Eating Disorder Support at One Mind Health

Eating disorders can affect anyone, at any age, and they can have a significant impact on relationships, daily life, wellbeing and the way we experience ourselves and our bodies.

At One Mind Health, Psychologists Kimberley and Jenny provide compassionate, individualised psychological support for people experiencing eating difficulties and eating disorders.

Therapy can provide a safe, non-judgemental space to explore what may be underlying the eating disorder, develop healthier ways of coping, strengthen your relationship with yourself and your body, and work towards meaningful recovery.

Support can also extend to partners and families, who may need guidance in understanding what is happening and how best to provide support.

You don't need to wait until things become overwhelming to reach out. Taking the first step can be difficult — but you don't have to take it alone.

Compassionate, individualised support
Evidence-informed psychological care
Support for individuals and families.

EMDR isn't about forgetting what happened. It's about changing how it affects you.

Traumatic or distressing experiences can leave your brain feeling "stuck," causing memories, emotions, or body sensations to keep resurfacing long after the event has passed.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess these experiences, so they become part of your story rather than something that continues to overwhelm your present.

EMDR may help with:
• Trauma and PTSD/CPTSD
• Anxiety and panic
• Distressing memories
• Phobias
• Grief and loss
• Low self-esteem
• Stress related to accidents, medical experiences or difficult life events

Using Bilateral Stimulation (BLS), EMDR supports your brain's natural ability to heal, helping reduce emotional distress while building a greater sense of calm, confidence and resilience.

At One Mind Health, our psychologists provide EMDR as part of a compassionate, personalised treatment plan, working at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.
In-person appointments available in Kingscliff as well as Australia-wide via Telehealth. Please don't hesitate to contact us in the link in the bio or emailing [email protected]

MYTH: Boys and men don't talk about their feelings.

The reality is often more nuanced. They do talk, just often in different ways and only when feeling safe enough to do so.

Many boys and young men want support, connection and understanding. What can get in the way is not a lack of willingness to talk, but concerns about judgement, pressure, vulnerability, or feeling that they need to handle things on their own.

Research and clinical experience tell us that boys and men are often more likely to open up when they feel safe, accepted and connected. Sometimes conversations happen while driving, walking, playing sport, gaming, working on a project together, or simply spending time side-by-side.

As parents, carers, teachers and friends, we can help by creating opportunities for connection rather than focusing solely on getting someone to "talk".

Small moments of genuine connection can become the foundation for bigger conversations.

At One Mind Health, our clinicians work with teen boys and young men using evidence-based approaches, warmth, curiosity and respect. We recognise that every young person is different and tailor support to their individual strengths, needs and goals.

"Do I really need therapy, or am I just overreacting?"

This is one of the most common questions we hear before someone reaches out.

The truth is, you don't need to be in crisis to benefit from support.

Many people who contact us are:
-Feeling overwhelmed more often than usual. -Struggling with stress, anxiety, or burnout
-Navigating relationship challenges
-Finding it difficult to switch off or relax
-Feeling stuck, disconnected, or unlike themselves
-Tired of carrying everything on their own

Often, the hardest part isn't therapy itself—it's deciding whether your struggles are "serious enough" to ask for help.

If you've been wondering whether you should reach out, consider this:

You don't need to wait until things get worse.
You don't need to have all the answers.
And you don't need to justify needing support.

At One Mind Health, our clinicians bring a diverse range of experience, evidence-based therapeutic approaches, and genuine warmth to support people at every stage of life. Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your relationship, your child, adolescent, or family, we work collaboratively to understand your unique needs and tailor support that feels right for you.

Therapy isn't about being "broken"—it's about having a dedicated space to better understand yourself, navigate life's challenges, and create meaningful change.

Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation.

Most couples don’t come to therapy “too early.”
More often, they come after months — sometimes years — of feeling disconnected, misunderstood, or stuck in painful patterns.

Couples therapy isn’t only for relationships in crisis. It can also be a space to strengthen communication, rebuild connection, deepen understanding, and nurture the relationship before things feel too far apart.

At One Mind Health, we support couples at all stages of their relationship journey in a warm, compassionate, and evidence-based space.
Located in Kingscliff, supporting couples across the Tweed Coast, Gold Coast, Byron Bay and surrounding areas. Appointments available now.

Because relationships — like minds — need to be nurtured, cared for and nourished.

Sometimes survival mode becomes so familiar that we stop noticing how much stress our mind and body are carrying.

You might still be showing up to work, caring for others, keeping everything going — while internally feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected, or constantly “on edge.”

Signs your nervous system may have been under strain for too long can include:
• feeling tired even after rest
• difficulty concentrating or remembering things
• irritability or emotional reactivity
• trouble sleeping or switching off
• feeling numb, detached, or unlike yourself

These experiences aren’t personal failings — they can be signs your system has been working overtime to cope.

Therapy can provide a space to slow down, better understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin reconnecting with yourself in a more supported and sustainable way.

If this resonates, support is here when you’re ready. OMH has experienced clinicians who can support you in a person centered way.

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all.

At One Mind Health, we take a personalised approach — because your experiences, patterns, and challenges are uniquely yours.
We draw from a range of evidence-based therapies, including CBT, ACT, CFT, EMDR, schema therapy, attachment-focused work, and trauma-informed approaches. This means your therapy is shaped around what actually supports you, not a rigid model.

For some, that looks like building practical tools to manage anxiety.
For others, it’s exploring deeper patterns, relationships, or emotional experiences.
Our space is designed to feel calm, supportive, and grounded — a place where you can slow down, feel understood, and begin to make meaningful change.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start. We will get there together.

Appointments available now — contact us on 0490535334, [email protected] or our contact page in the bio.
