Rest is health care
Rest isn't a luxury. It's part of looking after your health. ๐ŸŒ™
For many women, getting enough rest can be easier said than done. Work, family, stress, caring responsibilities, pain and hormonal changes can all affect our sleep.
But rest matters.
Creating a simple bedtime routine, taking time to unwind, reducing screen time before bed or speaking with a health professional when sleep problems continue are all small steps that can make a difference.
And sometimes, doing it anyway means giving yourself permission to slow down.
Women's Health Week 2026 is encouraging women to take small, achievable steps towards better health โ€” including making space for rest and recovery.
๐Ÿ’š We've explored this year's Women's Health Week message, along with practical ideas for supporting your wellbeing, in our latest blog.

What actually is menopause โ€” and when do I know I've reached it?

LET'S ASK LORELLE

It's a question many women have, so we asked Lorelle, our Registered Nurse with a background in Women's Health.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Lorelle says:
โ€œMenopause marks the end of our reproductive years, but it also signals the beginning of a new chapter in life.โ€
For most women, natural menopause occurs between 45 and 55, with the average age being around 51.
Menopause is confirmed after 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period or spotting.
But menopause is about much more than periods. As our reproductive hormones change, menopause can affect many parts of the body โ€” from sleep and mood to our bones, muscles, bladder and brain.
And everyone's experience is different.
๐Ÿ’š Coming up in this series, we'll ask Lorelle about symptoms, the positive side of menopause and what we can do to support our health as we move through this stage of life.

๐ŸŒฟ Women's Health Week starts today!๐ŸŒฟ

This week, women across Australia are coming together to focus on something that can so easily get pushed to the bottom of the list: our own health and wellbeing.
Women's Health Week 2026, led by Jean Hailes, has a simple but powerful message.
Do It Anyway.
Life is busy. Motivation comes and goes. Sometimes circumstances aren't perfect. But looking after your health doesn't have to mean making huge changes.
This week is about taking small, realistic steps that work for you.

๐Ÿ’š Fuel your body
๐Ÿ’š Move in a way you enjoy
๐Ÿ’š Make time to rest
๐Ÿ’š Take a moment to breathe
๐Ÿ’š Connect with others

We'll be sharing more throughout the month, with simple reminders and practical information to help you take one small step towards looking after yourself.

Because your health matters. And you don't have to do everything โ€” just do something.

Small steps count
Your health doesnโ€™t have to be an all-or-nothing project. ๐ŸŒฟ
Sometimes looking after your health can feel like one more thing on a very long list.
But Women's Health Week 2026 is reminding us that small steps count.
A glass of water. A short walk. Eating a proper meal. Going to bed a little earlier. Taking a few minutes to breathe.
You don't have to change everything at once. Small, realistic actions can add up to meaningful changes in your health and wellbeing.
This year's Women's Health Week theme is Do It Anyway โ€” a reminder that you don't need perfect timing, motivation or circumstances to take one small step for yourself.
๐Ÿ’š We've shared more about Women's Health Week and some simple ideas you can try throughout the week on our blog.

๐Ÿ’„ A little lipstick for a very important conversation.
You might notice something a little brighter than usual around the Centre this September โ€” lipsticks on display for Liptember. ๐Ÿ’‹
Liptember is an annual campaign raising awareness and funds for women's mental health, helping shine a light on an area of health that deserves just as much attention and support as our physical health. (Liptember)
Because sometimes a simple reminder can start an important conversation.
How are you really doing?
Have you checked in with a friend lately?
Have you made a little time for yourself?
This month, our lipsticks are a colourful reminder that women's mental health matters โ€” and that talking about it matters too. ๐Ÿ’—
If you're visiting the Centre, take a look at our Liptember display and help us spread the message.
