A quick update on the 68 year old client I shared recently.

A Bundaberg woman, aged 68, who read about my acupressure treatment, contacted me for an appointment.

In her email she said “I have back issues, have had my left hip replaced and am currently having problems with my right hip and knee. I am going on a 10 day bus trip next Sunday and wonder if I might be able to see you”

When she came in she explained that she has sharp pain from hip to knee that gets worse as the day progresses. She is having difficulties straightening the right leg after sitting and also can’t stand for long because of extensive deterioration in her spine. I gave her a "Pelvis Release" acupressure treatment.

The next day she reported sleeping well and feeling good on waking up. But within an hour her knee pain returned and her hip was very painful.

I asked her to wait another 24 hrs and see if she got any relief.

The next day she messaged me:

“You are a miracle worker 😊 I was not in a good place yesterday but decided against taking anything. At 8pm last night the pain just stopped - bizarre! Went to bed slept for 12 hours and woke up with no pain. I'm still feeling good with only a small amount of pain in my hip. Let's hope I stay like this for the next fortnight. Can't thank you enough. See you when I get home.”

When she got back from the trip, she reported that she was pain free for 10 days. After sitting in the bus for many hours, her pain returned. She took one dose of anti-inflammatory pills that relieved the pain for the last couple of days of the trip.

So why do some people experience more pain before they get the benefits of a treatment?

This is called “Healing Reaction”: it is a temporary worsening of symptoms after treatment. Chinese medicine views this reaction as a natural and positive part of the process. It means that the treatment has touched on the root cause of the issue. It is a positive sign of the beginning of deep healing.

While this reaction is usually mild and short-lived, it can indicate that your body is responding to treatment by starting to rebalance and heal.

On a cold winter morning, I went to the Elliott Heads beach.
The water was as clear as can be.

The sun rays were drawing rainbows on the sandy bottom and little fish were swimming in the shallows.

I went in for a refreshing swim that made me feel alive.

🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠

Afterwards, I sat in the sun with my toes in the sand, sipping hot ginger tea, the cliff blocking the breeze.
I felt blessed and grateful for my sweet life.

👣Talking of toes:

One of my clients and a dear friend who is 79 years young is suffering with numb and cold feet.

This Neuropathy has been giving her pain and making her unstable. It bothers her most first thing in the morning and she is worried about her balance.

She has been coming for Five Elements Acupressure treatment since April:

> After the first session she could sense her toes again. It only lasted for a few days.

> After the second treatment she had relief for nearly two weeks.

> By the third session she had sensation in her feet, she could move her toes and stand on her tippy toes. She could feel heat flowing into her feet and didn’t need socks in bed.

💚💚💚 I am delighted with her results and improvements.

It is becoming evident to me that the acupressure treatment is cumulative. With each session the body heals a bit more, the energy flows more easily.
It is a gradual process and requires repetition in order to create lasting change.

This is how we welcomed winter at the Inner Studio workshop.

We moved the body, warmed up the fingers and ignited the creative spirit.

We journaled about fear and trust.
We used water colours in dark shades.

And we had hot spiced chai and yummy snacks.

It felt so freeing to drop the jumbled thoughts in my head onto the paper and reshape them with a paintbrush.

This is a monthly Sunday workshop
No art experience or talent required.
Curiosity about emotions and creativity are essential.

You might not get to see her because she is a bit shy and flighty.
Occasionally she comes in to supervise a class. Sometimes she sits in on a consultation (or on a client). She can’t resist a soft blanket.

Meet Orym the studio cat.
You might see him staring out the screen door, watching the birds when you come in.
He loves hiding under a yoga mat and leaping over people in savasana.
Orym is cheeky and affectionate and you might get to pet him when you come for a yoga class or a treatment.

Yoga is on Monday 7am,
Tuesday 4:30pm,
Wednesday 7am.
Chi Flow is on Wednesday 5:30pm.
