🩷Celebrating Aunty Lisa McGrady

After more than 20 years with IWC and our communities, we say a heartfelt thank you to Aunty Lisa for everything she has given.

Lisa began her IWC journey as an Employment Officer through CDEP in 2004, right at the beginning of what would become IWC. In 2009, she became an Advanced Nutrition Health Worker before moving into IHW and IHP - and the rest is history.

Over the years, Lisa has helped develop, lead and deliver many programs and services, including Mums and Bubs, the Lisa Penrose Optometry Clinic, ICOP, Cultural Mentoring for GPs, Connected Beginnings, HHART and Living Strong.

But Aunty Lisa’s greatest impact has always been on the people.

The families she supported. The relationships she built. The knowledge she shared and the staff she has mentored and inspired every day.

Aunty Lisa leaves behind a legacy that reaches far beyond IWC - carried forward through the generations of many families and communities she has supported along the way.

Thank you, Aunty Lisa, for more than 20 years of care, leadership, connection and commitment to our mob.

Keep shining your beautiful light on your next exciting adventure. You will be so dearly missed!

💙 Celebrating Barry's 22 Years of Service.

Last week, our IWC Homecare team had a cook up to celebrate Barry's retirement and his incredible 22 years of service to IWC and our communities.

For more than two decades, Barry has been part of the IWC journey - supporting community, building strong relationships and sharing his knowledge, experience and plenty of laughs along the way.

His contribution goes far beyond a job. It’s the contribution, relationships and connections he’s built over the years that will be remembered.

From all of us at IWC, thank you, Uncle Barry, for everything you’ve given to our organisation and our communities.

We wish you all the very best for your next chapter and hope it's filled with lots of fun and fishing!

💛 R U OK? Day at IWC 💛

Today was a chance to come together, share some tukka, enjoy a few sweet treats and, most importantly, check in with each other.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make our staff BBQ, cupcakes (by Rise the bakehouse Bundaberg) and cookies (by Sherrie Black) such a success, and to all our deadly IWC staff who got involved and helped create a safe space to yarn, have a laugh and connect across our teams.

R U OK? isn’t just one day of the year. It’s about the way we look out for and support one another and our community - every day.

We’re proud to see our mob at IWC leading with this spirit in the work we do.

💛 R U OK? Mob?

Sometimes a simple “Are you OK?” can open the door to a yarn that someone really needs.

R U OK? Day is a reminder to check in with your family, friends, workmates and community - not just today, but any day. You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes just knowing someone cares can mean a lot.

You’re important. We care about you. 💛

🌟 Celebrating Excellence at IWC 🌟

A huge congratulations to Stephanie Rickman, our incredible Endorsed Midwife, clinical nurse and Connected Beginnings Program lead here at IWC, on winning the Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union People’s Choice Award AND receiving a Bullwinkel Scholarship. WOW Super Stephanie 🎉

Stephanie’s passion for education and advocacy for rural healthcare is nothing short of inspiring. Stephanie reflects on her work and beautifully captures the essence:

"For a long time I thought I was not where I should be,
but now I know this life is meant for me.
My new community are here,
and to be fair how blessed am I to provide continuity of care.
Tired I get but it will never grow old
To sit quietly at night watching life’s journey unfold."

At IWC we’re beyond proud to have Stephanie as part of our extended family. Her commitment to providing holistic healthcare, especially to families who might otherwise lack access to continuity of care, is what makes her work truly special.

Thank you, Stephanie, for your unwavering dedication and for being a beacon of excellence in rural healthcare. We’re so proud to work alongside you!

🌟 Happy National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day

Today, we honour and celebrate the strength, culture, and resilience of our children. This special day acknowledges those who didn't always know their birth dates, but are always celebrated and cherished.

At IWC's Connected Beginnings Program, we strive to support our children and families, fostering cultural pride and community connections.

Let's come together to uplift and celebrate the bright futures of our little jarjums.

🌿🎨 Len's Cultural Journey

We're excited to share the inspiring story of one of our amazing NDIS participants, Len, who has recently embarked on a cultural journey into Indigenous art.

Drawing from his connection to the land, Len has been creating stunning artworks that tell a powerful story of connection to country.

We are honored to have acquired three of Len's paintings to display in our building, and we welcome everyone to come down to the IWC NDIS LAC Office to say hi and view these incredible artworks.
