“The issue wasn’t that people were imagining symptoms—it’s that science hadn’t caught up to the body.” 🎤

For a long time, many people were told their symptoms were exaggerated, psychological, or “all in their head.” But history shows us something important: our understanding of the body is always evolving.

Symptoms once labeled “psychosomatic” like stomach ulcers, chronic pain, migraine, endometriosis, POTS and IBS, are now understood as real medical diagnoses. Mechanisms once misunderstood are now studied. And experiences once questioned are now validated.

The body has always been communicating. Sometimes science needed more time to learn how to listen.

When someone shares what they are feeling in their body, curiosity and respect matter. Listening doesn’t mean we have every answer yet, it means we acknowledge that the experience is real and we work hard to support it..

Because progress in science often begins with believing the signal before we fully understand it.

I’m so proud to have had the opportunity to deliver this PD and to work alongside such passionate and dedicated professionals. I'm impressed with your curiosity and desire to learn how to better support PDA children in their school environment.

A huge thank you to Sue and the wonderful educators at C & K Walkervale Community Kindergarten for organising and welcoming us all.

It’s Autism Awareness Month, a time to learn, reflect, and grow. The best way to support the autistic community is to listen to autistic voices — their stories, insights, and perspectives matter every day.

Interest-based learning is where the magic really happens ✨

When we tap into what a child loves—whether it’s dinosaurs, Minecraft, art, or building—we’re not just keeping them engaged… we’re unlocking deeper learning.

Children are more motivated, more focused, and more willing to try when learning feels meaningful to them. Skills like communication, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and fine motor development all grow more naturally when they’re connected to something a child is genuinely interested in.

It’s not about “just playing”—it’s about meeting children where they’re at and using their interests as a bridge to build new skills.

Follow the interest, and the learning will come 🧠💛

As we prepare to move clinics and look around my little clinic I just want to share how grateful I am for the last two years in this space. It’s been a place of growth, connection, and so many meaningful moments with families. I’ve truly loved working here and carry a lot of appreciation as we take this next step. Friday 13th Feb will be our last day for therapy in our current location, moving over the weekend and straight into therapy from our new location of 61B Barolin St, Bundaberg Queensland from 16th Feb. Can't wait for our next step Jayde and Alyce @ Kids Can in Occupational Therapy Alyce the Paediatric OT
