Sharing a special moment from our client James’ journey that truly reflects the power of community, purpose, and giving back. 💛

James recently took part in the HBF Run for a Reason, volunteering at the water station in support of the Cancer Council - a cause deeply personal to him as he honoured his mum and helped raise awareness for breast cancer.

With the support of his incredible team, Brightwater, and Kanda proudly sponsoring the support hours so our staff could be there alongside him, James was able to experience a day filled with connection, meaning, and accomplishment.

What made this moment so special wasn’t just the event itself, but the pride and joy James felt in being part of something bigger than himself. Seeing his confidence shine and hearing the positive feedback from everyone involved was incredibly rewarding.

At Kanda, we believe meaningful opportunities like these can have a lasting impact; creating moments of purpose, inclusion, and personal growth.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this happen, and especially to James for inspiring us all with his compassion, strength, and willingness to give back to the community. 💫

Last weekend, our SA team had the pleasure of celebrating the 65th birthday of our client, Robert, with a special lunch surrounded by support workers, office team members, and even another participant from a nearby SIL home who joined in the festivities. 🎉

What made the day truly special was seeing friendships grow, laughter shared, and everyone coming together to celebrate an important milestone in Robert’s life.

Creating opportunities for social connection and meaningful relationships is something our teams are incredibly passionate about, because we know these moments can have such a positive impact.

Happy 65th Birthday, Robert! 🥳💫

In Australia, 90% of the 4.4 million people living with disability have a disability you can't see. That includes mental health conditions, chronic illness, neurodivergence, sensory disability, and many more.

This 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 is a chance to widen the picture, and to remind our community of something important: you don't need a diagnosis, a referral, or a Medicare card to access mental health support in Australia. The Australian Government's 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐈𝐧 is a new, free digital service offering evidence-based tools and telehealth sessions with a trained practitioner, available to anyone aged 16+ living in Australia.

Save these and share them with someone who might need them. Details in the comments section ⬇️

Sharing a glimpse into our client's journey and the incredible progress he’s made since moving into his new Supported Independent Living (SIL) home with Kanda. 💙

From woodworking projects and baking with staff, to crabbing trips to Port Noarlunga Jetty, and caring for his garden, Danny has been embracing new experiences and building meaningful routines along the way.

His support team, Support Coordinator, and Positive Behaviour Support team have all celebrated the positive changes in Danny’s wellbeing and daily life since transitioning into his new home.

It’s been wonderful to see Danny thrive in an environment where he feels supported, engaged, and empowered to pursue the things he enjoys most. 🌟

📣 Latest update from the Australian Government

From 1 October 2026, personal care services will be fully funded under the Support at Home program. 🙌

What that means: if your support plan approves you for personal care, you'll be able to receive it at no out-of-pocket cost. The government has moved personal care from the "independence" category into the "clinical supports" category, recognising that help with showering, dressing, and daily care is greatly essential.

💛 And YES. Personal care is one of the services we provide at Kanda. Our trained team supports older Australians with:
• Bathing and showering
• Dressing and grooming
• Personal hygiene
• Toileting and continence care
• Putting on and taking off compression aids

If you'd like to understand what the October 2026 change means for you (or someone you love), give us a call.
