Lamb Chop or a Scotch Fillet? 🐑 🥩

Innovative setup here from south west Vic. Lambs fed on one side of the shed and cattle on the other. Both can walk in/out of the shed as they please. Both on customised finisher rations from McKenzie Ag Services.

Warm, dry and clean. Far better than the alternative during this wet winter!

Uppercut U15 turns 3 on Tuesday. He’s weighing well over 1,000Kgs, despite never being “out of work”.

20,000+ straws of semen produced, ongoing natural matings at The Rock Angus, and he’s still producing better than we ever hoped.

Check out his feet - pics taken this morning. Outstanding! If you want to see for your yourself, get to The Rock Angus’ open day on 27th & 28th July.

The contrast in the season 12 months apart is extraordinary. Have a look at this post from Delatite Station.

Delatite rolled the dice last season. Bought the required feed and looked after their stock the best they could. The payback is now. The herd and flock is maintained and years of genetic improvement has been protected. A far better alternative than having to try to re-stock in this market if they had have sold breeders during the dry..

Let’s just hope this wet, mild, remarkable winter continues.

The hype on the Uppercut U15 calves has been phenomenal. A great example here with these yearlings from Wrigley Cattle Co. Absolute rippers!

If Uppercut continues to breed like this, he will have a huge impact on the breed and leave a lasting legacy for many years.

Kale:
Much loved by the Vegan, Decaf Soy Latte set, who put it into their blenders, and turn it into their favourite Herbal Thick Shake.

Will also be loved by our Angus Weaners, who will put it into their Rumens, and turn it into our favourite Steaks 🥩.

20Ha paddock will feed 250 Calves for 60 days. Highly digestible, winter active feed. Nutrient content 12-14Mj ME/Kg (DM) & 16-17% Crude Protein (DM).

Feed Conversion & ADG will be interesting. If it works as well as we expect, we will grow a lot more of it. If not…. happy to leave it to those Vegans!
