Heat-related illness can strike quickly! Please adhere to heat warnings by local authorities over the summer.

Take a moment to check in on your neighbours, particularly the elderly and vulnerable.

It's hot out here! 🔥
Remember to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe by drinking plenty of water, staying out of the heat where you can and limiting strenuous exercise.
Don't become complacent in extreme heat conditions, it can quickly affect people of all ages and fitness levels.

From 3 February 2025, the maternal respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine will be available for eligible pregnant women under the National Immunisation Program 🤰

The RSV vaccine is recommended between 28 to 36 weeks of pregnancy to protect newborn babies from RSV. 🗓️

RSV is a serious disease for newborn babies and infants. It infects the nose, throat, and lungs. It is a leading cause of childhood hospitalisation.

To receive the vaccine for free, you must hold or be eligible for a Medicare card.

As the temperature rises, so does the risk of dehydration! Have you checked the colour of your wee today? 😉

It’s an easy way to see how well-hydrated you are. During these hot days, most adults should aim for about 2 to 2.5 litres (that’s 8-10 cups!) of water. Kids need around 1 to 2 litres (or 4-8 cups).

Make sure to drink extra water if you’re out in the sun, exercising, or if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. 🏃‍♀️

If your p*e is a different colour—like red or green—it could be due to what you’ve eaten or other health issues.

If you notice any unusual colours or if it’s very dark along with fever, pain, or trouble urinating, don’t hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider. Stay safe and hydrated out there. 💧

Dr Alex Gill - Eastbrooke Family Clinic Burleigh Waters takes on the Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle for Cancer challenge this Sunday!

Thanks to his generous supporters, he has already smashed his goal, raising over $2,500 for cancer research.
