Our Burleigh Heads clinic is warm, welcoming and designed with children in mind. From the moment you walk in, we want families to feel at ease. Our team loves coming to work here, and we think that energy comes through in every session.

On any given day you might find a baby working on their very first movements, a toddler navigating an obstacle course, or a school-aged child building strength in one of our group programs. We offer a wide range of interventions including hydrotherapy, serial casting, LiteGait, reformer classes, orthotic prescription and so much more. All sessions are individualised and delivered in a space that makes therapy feel engaging and achievable.

We support children of all ages and abilities. Gross motor delays, gait concerns, neurological and chromosomal conditions, and developmental disabilities. No two families are the same, and we never approach them like they are.

Every session is personalised, evidence-informed and built around what matters most to your family.

Compression garments are something families ask us about quite often, and we love that question because it usually means a parent is thinking creatively about how to support their child.

In simple terms, these garments apply gentle, consistent pressure to the body. That pressure gives the nervous system more information about where the body is in space. This sense is called proprioception, and for children who find movement, balance or coordination more challenging, that extra input can make a real difference to how they feel and move.

We tend to use compression garments with children whose conditions affect muscle tone, motor development or coordination. They can support body awareness, help with postural control, encourage muscle activation and give children a greater sense of security as they move through their day.

They are not a one-size-fits-all tool though. Fit, timing and how the garment is used all matter, which is why we always start with an assessment. When it is the right fit, a compression garment can be a really valuable part of a child's overall therapy plan.

Animal walks are a simple and playful way to build strength, coordination and body awareness through everyday movement.

Bear crawls, tall giraffe walks, frog jumps and crab walks each challenge the body in different ways, supporting balance, endurance and gross motor development without it feeling like exercise at all.

One of our favourite tips is to weave them into your daily routine. Bear walk to the bedroom at bedtime, frog jump to the breakfast table in the morning. Children often embrace movement much more willingly when it becomes part of the rhythm of their day.

A BOSU ball is a wonderful tool for building balance, strength and proprioception - your child's awareness of where their body is in space.

Here are three simple ways to use one at home.

Standing balance and games. Have your child stand on the BOSU with the flat side down while playing catch, balloon volleyball or tossing beanbags. This challenges their balance while keeping things fun and engaging.

Upside down standing. Flip the BOSU so the dome faces down and have your child stand on the flat surface. This adds an extra layer of challenge, encouraging ankle stability, core activation and body awareness.

Plank on an upside down BOSU. With the BOSU flipped, place hands on the flat platform and hold a plank position on knees or feet. This builds upper body strength, core stability and control.

Using an unstable surface gently challenges the body to work harder to maintain balance and control. These are important foundations for running, jumping, sport and everyday movement.

Our Buddy Program is one of our favourite things we do here at Early Years.

It pairs children with similar disabilities together during physiotherapy sessions, giving younger children a role model to look up to and older children the opportunity to lead, encourage and grow in confidence.

It is powerful to watch. Connection, motivation and skill building all happening through play.

Sometimes the best therapy doesn't just come from us. It comes from each other. 🤍

Stacking toys and ring towers are some of our most used toys in the clinic. They are simple, versatile and grow so well with your child.

In the early months we use them to support grasping, banging and sensory exploration, often practising hand over hand in a supported sitting position. As children move into standing, the same toys encourages posting which supports hand-eye coordination and bilateral hand use.

For our older children we love using the larger stacking sets. Building a tall tower requires focus, stability and real body control. Knocking it over is just a bonus.

We use stacking toys across so many of our physiotherapy sessions, supporting fine motor and cognitive skills alongside bigger gross motor goals like sitting, reaching and squatting.

Stacking toys and ring towers are just some of the toys we play with in our Thursday morning baby group. It is a relaxed, supported session where little ones can explore movement and play while parents connect and ask questions. Activities to try at home from the Early Years Physio team.

Simple yoga poses are a wonderful way to support your child's movement development at home.

Poses like tree pose, downward dog, cat cow and warrior pose encourage balance and body control while gently building strength and flexibility. They also support calm breathing and focus, which can be a lovely addition to your child's daily routine.

To make it more achievable, practice alongside your child so they can mirror your movements. Most children respond really well to copying a parent or carer.

If your child finds a particular pose difficult, gently help them into the position and then see how long they can hold it independently. Even a short hold is a great starting point.

Keep it playful and fun. The benefits come with time and repetition.

Harmony is our Senior Administration team member here at Early Years and truly the heart of how our clinic runs day to day.

With a background spanning administration, HR and customer service, Harmony brings a wealth of experience to her role. She ensures that every enquiry is handled with care, every appointment runs smoothly and every family feels at ease from the moment they reach out to us.

Outside of the clinic, Harmony is kept busy running her two daughters to every sport they can possibly fit in. And when the sun is out, you'll find her enjoying our gorgeous local beaches.

Our Group Reformer Pilates classes are designed for children of all abilities, and we're so proud to offer this as part of our services here at Early Years.

Reformer Pilates is a gentle, low-impact form of exercise that supports core strength, balance, flexibility and body awareness. The reformer equipment helps children move in a more supported and controlled way, making it easy to adapt for a wide range of needs and abilities.

We offer two class options. Clinical Reformer Pilates is led by our paediatric physiotherapy team and is ideal for children who need a therapy-based program tailored to their specific goals. Our Reformer and Mat Pilates classes are led by our Allied Health Assistant and are a great option for children continuing a program or needing regular guided exercise support.

The focus is always on what each child can do, in a positive, non-competitive environment where movement feels enjoyable and confidence can grow.
