❓Mental health and psychosocial disability... what's the difference and how do they fit under the NDIS?
🧠 Mental health
🧠 Mental health means how your mind feels and works.
🙂 It can change day to day.
🌧️ You may feel sad worried or stressed.
💬 Some people get help from a doctor or counsellor.
🌱 Mental health can get better with the right support.

🤝 Psychosocial disability
🤝 Psychosocial disability means mental health makes daily life very hard.
⏳ It lasts a long time.
📋 In NDIS this can be a type of disability if someone needs support to do daily things.

🔍 Main difference
🧠 Mental health is about how your mind is going.
🤝 Psychosocial disability is when mental health affects daily life and your functional capacity a lot.
🌱 Not everyone with mental health issues has psychosocial disability support needs.

💡 To get access to NDIS with psychosocial disability, participants need to show evidence that their condition means they have a long-term functional impairment across:
💬 Social interaction – with others and relationships
🫶 Self-management – of emotions and behaviour
🛁 Self-care – of personal hygiene and health
🗣️ Communication – with self and others
📚 Learning – of skills and work
🚶 Mobility – in public settings

💭 Psychosocial disability can be hard to understand because it looks different for everyone. It is often an invisible disability.
