๐Ÿ’œ Wednesday Wisdom ๐Ÿ’œ

Sometimes, the biggest difference isn't made by grand gesturesโ€”it's made by showing up consistently.

A familiar face.
A listening ear.
A helping hand.
Someone who genuinely cares.

At Empowerment Support Services, we know that consistency builds trust, and trust helps people feel confident, supported and empowered.

That's why we value continuity of care, strong relationships and personalised support for every participant.

๐ŸŒŸ Quote of the Week:
"People may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel."

Let's continue making a positive differenceโ€”one person, one conversation and one act of kindness at a time.

Have a wonderful Wednesday! ๐Ÿ’™

โ“Mental health and psychosocial disability... what's the difference and how do they fit under the NDIS?
๐Ÿง  Mental health
๐Ÿง  Mental health means how your mind feels and works.
๐Ÿ™‚ It can change day to day.
๐ŸŒง๏ธ You may feel sad worried or stressed.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Some people get help from a doctor or counsellor.
๐ŸŒฑ Mental health can get better with the right support.

๐Ÿค Psychosocial disability
๐Ÿค Psychosocial disability means mental health makes daily life very hard.
โณ It lasts a long time.
๐Ÿ“‹ In NDIS this can be a type of disability if someone needs support to do daily things.

๐Ÿ” Main difference
๐Ÿง  Mental health is about how your mind is going.
๐Ÿค Psychosocial disability is when mental health affects daily life and your functional capacity a lot.
๐ŸŒฑ Not everyone with mental health issues has psychosocial disability support needs.

๐Ÿ’ก To get access to NDIS with psychosocial disability, participants need to show evidence that their condition means they have a long-term functional impairment across:
๐Ÿ’ฌ Social interaction โ€“ with others and relationships
๐Ÿซถ Self-management โ€“ of emotions and behaviour
๐Ÿ› Self-care โ€“ of personal hygiene and health
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Communication โ€“ with self and others
๐Ÿ“š Learning โ€“ of skills and work
๐Ÿšถ Mobility โ€“ in public settings

๐Ÿ’ญ Psychosocial disability can be hard to understand because it looks different for everyone. It is often an invisible disability.

๐Ÿ“„ For more information, you can read the NDIS' Psychosocial Disability Access Factsheet and Evidence of Psychosocial Disability Form, which will both be linked in the comments at 9am.

There are 6 icons surrounding them: a yellow sun, an orange brain with a heart shape in it, a sad dark-blue rain cloud, a purple muddled-up mind, a dark-blue person hugging their knees to their chest, and a green pair of hands shaking.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Tuesday Tip ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Did you know? Choosing the right support provider isn't just about the services they offerโ€”it's about how they make you feel.

When looking for a provider, ask yourself:

โœ… Do they listen to what matters to me?
โœ… Do they communicate well?
โœ… Do they provide consistent support workers where possible?
โœ… Do they understand my goals?
โœ… Do I feel respected and valued?

The right provider should work with you, helping you build confidence, independence and achieve your goalsโ€”not simply complete tasks.

At Empowerment Support Services, we believe everyone deserves support that is reliable, compassionate and personalised.

๐Ÿ’™ Because great support starts with great relationships.
