If everything I’ve been doing has led me here, I don’t want it anymore. I didn’t want a small change... I wanted to shock my career, shock my life, and do something completely different. That decision was the beginning of everything that followed.

I remember that moment. Waking up and realising my mind was quiet, my body felt calm, and everything just felt… normal again. It was such a simple feeling, but after everything I’d been through it felt amazing.

When I finally started to feel regulated again, it was like discovering what “normal” actually felt like. Calm mind, relaxed body, present in the moment. It made me realise how powerful these simple practices can be, and how meaningful it would be to help others experience that shift too.

During that time I made a simple agreement with myself. Every time a negative thought came up, or I felt uncomfortable, I would stop and breathe... in through my nose, out through my mouth. It helped me realise that just because a thought appears doesn’t mean it’s the truth. Breathing brought me back to the present moment again and again.
Sometimes the most powerful shift is simply returning to now.

At one point during the retreat I honestly wanted to leave. My mind was loud and the negative chatter wouldn’t stop. A facilitator pulled me aside and showed me a simple breathing technique — in through the nose, out through the mouth. At first I was just huffing and puffing through it, but I kept doing it. After a few days something shifted. I woke up feeling clear, regulated, and honestly… just normal again.

Even after deciding to do something different, the negative mind chatter came back. The thoughts kept looping, and I realised I couldn’t use the usual things I used to distract myself. It forced me to sit with it and face what was actually going on inside.

While searching online for something different, I came across a massage school that taught a unique style of bodywork in levels. I had never heard of it before, never experienced it, but something about it caught my attention. It felt different. I remember thinking… why not? So I booked it, not really knowing what I was getting myself into.
