🥄 What are “spoons” and why do they matter?

Our psychologists, Jolene Chia and Esther Chan, break down the Spoon Theory.

Translating terms like “autistic” and “neurotypical” into Chinese presented unique challenges, but we’ve done our best to convey the meaning accurately.

🌱 If you’ve ever heard a neurodivergent person say they’re “out of spoons,” that something “takes more spoons,” or “I don’t have the spoons for that,” it’s vital to understand this isn’t about will or preference.

💁🏻‍♀️ For neurodivergent individuals, “spoons” symbolize their limited energy and mental capacity. While they may strategically avoid energy-intensive tasks, the daily expenditure of these spoons is often non-negotiable.
