Setting goal is a powerful motivational tool. I conducted scientific research and investigations on goal-setting.
Setting the right goal will motivate us to a better life/relationships/state of mind. When we pursue this goal, if you experienced more chaos or more stress, then it could be a few reasons: 1) perhaps, used the wrong method, 2) not quite the "right" goal, 3) not for right now.
Example: Gin's goal is to have 3 hours "me time" everyday after dinner.
Gin aimed to be more efficient at home in order to save time. He ended up yelling at his kids, yelling at his partner. They were arguing, dismissing each other. The mood at home is quite tense and chaotic in the evening.
Gin was rushing and juggling between dinner preps, kids and work deadlines. He felt more and more frustrated this "me time" will not be possible tonight. Later the week, he was breaking plates in the kitchen, spilling things every second day, swearing at himself and everyone at home, and cutting his own finger.
Discuss: What went wrong? Is it the "wrong" goal? Gin did achieve his goal. But he is not feeling happy. His family is feeling even worst.
