One of the things I often see is people becoming increasingly stressed by the process of trying to heal… myself included.
Which is completely understandable when your symptoms affect something as visible as your face.
We’re checking every symptom.
Monitoring every flare.
Questioning every food.
Searching for the next answer.
And while nutrition, gut health, hormones, skin barrier repair and other factors can absolutely matter and are key pillars…
What is often missing from the conversation is the role of the nervous system.
Because if the nervous system has contributed to the imbalance in the first place, and we’re only focusing on symptoms, we can end up over-indexing in areas that need support while overlooking a key piece of the puzzle.
For some people, the healing journey itself becomes another source of stress, hypervigilance and activation.
Not because we’re doing anything wrong, or it’s our fault, and not because we “just need to relax”, but because we’re trying so hard to get better without it ever being explained how the nervous system may be influencing the process.
This clip from my recent workshop captures that experience beautifully.
The nervous system influences so many of the systems we’re trying to support in the first place, yet it’s often left out of the conversation.
I’d love to hear in the comments if this resonates with your own experience.
