πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ NAIDOC Week 2026 – 50 Years of Deadly πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’š

This week we proudly celebrate NAIDOC Week and this year's theme,"50 Years of Deadly" marking five decades of recognising, celebrating and elevating the cultures, achievements, resilience and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year's theme honours the Elders, activists, artists, community leaders and generations of First Nations people who have shaped and sustained NAIDOC over the past 50 years.

Throughout the week, we encourage everyone to take the opportunity to listen, learn and celebrate First Nations cultures and histories. Whether it's reading a book by a First Nations author, listening to a podcast, attending a local event or having a meaningful conversation, every step helps build understanding and respect.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work and gather, the Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi Kabi) people, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Together, let's celebrate 50 Years of Deadly and continue walking towards a future grounded in respect, truth and reconciliation.

Men’s Mental Health Week – Day 5 πŸ’™

As we reach Day 5 of Men’s Mental Health Week, we’re pleased to share the final video in our series from our Men’s Facilitator, Sheron.

Today, Sheron explores the important topic of Strengths, Values and Identity – encouraging us to reflect on what matters most, recognise our personal strengths, and better understand the values that shape who we are.

Taking time to connect with our identity can help build confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of purpose, supporting positive mental health and wellbeing.

A sincere thank you to Sheron for sharing his knowledge, insights and encouragement throughout this week.

πŸŽ₯ Watch Sheron’s final video below and take a moment to reflect on the strengths and values that make you who you are.

Day 4 of Men's Mental Health Week (a little late, but an important message worth sharing!) πŸ’™

As part of Men's Mental Health Week, we're proud to share a video from Sheron, Facilitator of our Men's Wellbeing Group, on behalf of the Caboolture Medicare Mental Health Centre.

Men's mental health matters every day. Taking the time to check in with yourself, reach out to a mate, or seek support when needed are all signs of strengthβ€”not weakness.

We are committed to creating safe and supportive spaces where men can connect, share experiences, build resilience, and support one another through life's challenges.

A big thank you to Sheron for helping raise awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations about men's wellbeing.

πŸ’™ Remember: You don't have to face challenges alone. Support is available, and reaching out is a positive first step.

πŸ’™ Thank You for Supporting Our First Ever Bacon, Blokes & Breakfast Event πŸ’™

On Tuesday 16th, in recognition of Men's Mental Health Week, we proudly partnered with a number of community organisations to host our very first Bacon, Blokes & Breakfast event.

A very special thank you to Beachmere Men's Shed for generously hosting the event and providing a welcoming space for our community to come together for this important occasion.

The morning brought people together over a free breakfast of bacon and egg burgers and pancakes, creating an opportunity for connection, conversation, and support.

We are incredibly grateful to our generous sponsors and supporters who donated products and prizes to help make the event possible:

πŸ₯“ Breakfast donations:
β€’ Woolworths Central Lakes
β€’ Metro North Satellite Team
β€’ Caboolture Medicare Mental Health Centre

🎁 Lucky door prize donations:
β€’ Senator Corinne Mulholland
β€’ Mark Ryan MP
β€’ Nutrition Warehouse Morayfield
β€’ World Gym Morayfield

We would also like to thank our guest speakers and local services who shared valuable information, personal insights, and support with attendees:
β€’ Metro North Satellite Team
β€’ The Man Walk
β€’ Dads Community
β€’ Beachmere Men's Shed

Special thanks to Terry Young's Office, Ariana Doolan MP, and Mark Ryan MP for attending and sharing a few words with our community.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came along, enjoyed breakfast, connected with others, and helped make the day such a success. The strong turnout demonstrated just how important it is to create spaces where men can come together, support one another, and have open conversations about mental health.

This event would not have been possible without the collaboration, generosity, and commitment of our sponsors, speakers, volunteers, and community partners. We are incredibly grateful for the support shown by our community and look forward to making Bacon, Blokes & Breakfast an ongoing event.

Together, we can continue breaking down barriers, encouraging meaningful conversations, and supporting men's mental health. πŸ’™

🧠 Men's Mental Health Week – Day 3 (A Day Late, But Still Important)

Yesterday's focus was on the power of the "imaginary pause button" when life feels overwhelming.

In this short video, our Men's Group Facilitator, Sheron, shares a simple but powerful concept: when stress, frustration, or pressure starts to build, imagine pressing pause. Taking a moment to stop, reflect, and reset can help us respond more thoughtfully rather than react in the heat of the moment.

Mental health isn't about never feeling overwhelmedβ€”it's about developing practical tools to navigate those moments when they arise.

Thank you, Sheron, for sharing this valuable reminder with our community.

If you're feeling under pressure today, remember: it's okay to pause.

πŸ’™ Men's Mental Health Week – Day 2 πŸ’™

Today, we recognise Day 2 of Men's Mental Health Week by sharing a valuable wellbeing skill from our Men's Wellbeing Facilitator, Sheron Kamalakaran.

In this video, Sheron introduces the simple yet powerful "Hand on Heart" technique β€” a skill-building practice that can help us slow down, connect with ourselves, and respond to difficult emotions with self-compassion and care.

Taking a moment to place your hand on your heart can help create a sense of calm, grounding, and emotional safety during challenging times. Small practices like this can make a meaningful difference to our mental wellbeing.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch Sheron's video and consider how this technique could become part of your own wellbeing toolkit.

Remember, looking after your mental health is a sign of strength.
