🧡 World Patient Safety Day 2026 | Safe Care for Life

Today, 17 September, CMASA recognises World Patient Safety Day, a global initiative led by World Health Organization (WHO).

This year’s theme, “Safe care for noncommunicable diseases”, highlights the importance of patient safety throughout the entire care journey — from prevention and diagnosis to treatment, long-term management and self-care.

For Chinese medicine practitioners, acupuncturists and remedial massage therapists, patient safety is fundamental to professional practice. Maintaining high professional standards, practising within scope, keeping accurate and up-to-date patient records, communicating clearly with patients, recognising potential risks, and making appropriate referrals all contribute to safer and more patient-centred care.

At Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Society of Australia (CMASA), we remain committed to promoting safe, responsible and professional practice across our profession.

This World Patient Safety Day, let us continue working towards safer care for every patient, at every stage of their health journey.

Safe care for life. 🧡

17/09/2026

🧡 Safe care takes all of us.

Patient safety is a shared responsibility — and everyone has a role to play.

You — be informed, ask questions and take an active role in your care.

Health workers — make safety a priority in every interaction and every stage of care.

Decision-makers — build stronger systems that support safe, accessible and quality care.

Civil society — raise awareness, strengthen communities and help make every voice heard.

When we work together, we create a culture where safer care can follow every person throughout their health journey.

From prevention to treatment.
From today to tomorrow.
From one stage of life to the next.

🧡 Together for safer care.
Safe care for life.

💛 R U OK? Day 2026

A simple conversation can make a meaningful difference.

At Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Society of Australia (CMASA), we are proud to be a multicultural professional community, bringing together practitioners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds across Australia. While our members may speak different languages and come from different cultures, kindness, respect and compassion are values we all share.

This R U OK? Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to check in with a colleague, friend, family member or fellow practitioner.

Sometimes, asking "R U OK?" is all it takes to remind someone they are not alone.

As healthcare professionals, we care for our patients every day—but it is just as important to care for one another and to look after our own wellbeing.

Let's continue to build a profession where people feel supported, connected and comfortable reaching out when they need help.

If you or someone you know needs support, contact Lifeline Australia on 13 11 14 or visit lifeline.org.au. If someone is in immediate danger, call 000.

Together, every conversation matters.
