We were honoured to celebrate NAIDOC Week by welcoming Elder Henry Fourmile and artist Connie Rovina to our Welcome to Country and plaque unveiling ceremony at Cairns Private Hospital.

Throughout the week, we continued to recognise the occasion with a local shield display, First Nations cultural education, and team activities including a quiz and morning tea using native Australian ingredients.

We will be unveiling a similar plaque here at Ramsay Surgical Centre Cairns in the coming weeks, further strengthening our commitment to recognising and acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and care for our community.

In February, Cairns Private Hospital welcomed three new graduate nurses to our Cardiac Cath Lab team as part of the department’s inaugural graduate intake, marking the beginning of an exciting career pathway within a highly specialised clinical environment.

This intake reflects our ongoing commitment to developing the future cardiac workforce, with graduates gaining hands-on experience across cardiac diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures, supported by experienced clinicians.

They will also commence a Cath Lab development pathway through the Medtronic Academy, recently introduced to Ramsay Health Care staff. The program combines structured education with site-based experience and supervision.

We’re proud to support the growth of our next generation of cardiac specialists.

Today, teams at Ramsay Cairns came together to enjoy a shared charcuterie board in recognition of International Nurses Day, a wonderful opportunity to pause and acknowledge our team members and the contribution they make each and every day.

The compassion, support and calm our teams bring to patients, families and each other during some of life’s hardest moments is something truly special.
