After menopause, declining estrogen shifts this balance toward increased breakdown.

Yes, calcium and vitamin D matter.

But so do:
• Protein intake
• Mechanical loading (strength training)
• Adequate energy availability
• Sleep

Muscle and bone function as a unit.
