Gaurav is a Senior Staff Specialist & Endocrinologist at Cairns Hospital and Cairns Diabetes Centre. He is also the current Chair of Statewide Diabetes Clinical Network of Queensland. He graduated in 2003 and has since worked in various health services including NHS, WA Health. He completed his endocrine training and obtained fellowship in Western Australia, and had worked in specialist role at Royal Perth hospital prior to moving to Far North Queensland in the second half of 2016. His specialises in general endocrine pathology including metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, thyroid, pituitary, thyroid, reproductive as well as neuroendocrine tumours. Obesity and metabolic syndrome is his special area of interest.

My name is Gaurav Puri and I am a relatively newer face to Cairns.

I started working as a full time Senior Staff Specialist at The Cairns Hospital in the later half of 2016. I have worked in various health systems, both nationally as well as abroad including NHS in UK.

I completed my fellowship and specialist training in Perth, Western Australia prior to working at Royal Perth Hospital as a Consultant Endocrinologist and I have broad experience in management of diabetes and other endocrine pathologies in adults.

My research interests include Metabolic Syndrome as well as Obesity and therefore when the opportunity arose, working with Ben Woolven (Bariatric Surgeon) at Gardens Medical made good sense to me.
