There are 3 grades of tearing when it comes to muscles and ligaments:

Grade 1: Mild - Muscle fibres are stretched and there may be microscopic tears. You’ll feel mild pain, tenderness and experience minimal swelling.

Grade 2: Moderate - Fibres are partially torn but not completely severed. You might feel quite a bit of pain with a grade 2 tear and notice swelling, bruising and tenderness.

Grade 3: Severe - Fibres are completely ruptured. Here’s where it’s different. Initially you might feel pain, but it might also subside quickly. Sometimes you don’t even feel pain at all. You’ll experience intense swelling, bruising and range of motion is substantially limited.

Have you experienced any of these symptoms? We have availabilities for new patient assessments. Book now 📲

The one about sleep positions, woops! 🫪

We know we say a lot of things but it’s the kind of advice you look back on and think, “Yeah… they were onto something.”

Your back isn’t weak just because it hurts.

Back pain can make you feel like something is damaged or that you need to avoid movement, but pain doesn’t always equal harm.

Often, the goal is to gradually build your confidence, strength and tolerance to movement again.

Your back is strong, adaptable and designed to move.

Come chat to Navi if this feels like you!

Got hip pain while running? This is surprisingly common.

The culprit is usually not what you think it is and the body part that you think needs focusing on might surprise you too.

When we experience pain during whole body movements like running, we can immediately recognise the feeling of discomfort in the general area. Sometimes we can’t specifically pinpoint where it is, but we know it’s there. Physios are equipped to help you find the source of the pain and what could be causing it through assessments.

If you’ve been struggling with hip pain, come see us. Not everyone’s pain is caused by the same problems. We’re here to help you figure it out and move better ✅

The age old question: Should you do crunches after having a baby?

There’s an old belief that if you do crunches to exercise your core after you have a baby, this might actually do more harm than good. It stems from the fear that crunches push your abdominal muscles apart, causing the belly to bulge instead of healing and strengthening.

Here’s our hot take on it 📝
