Callala Medical Centre has been proudly serving Callala Bay and surrounding communities for over 25 years. We provide friendly, comprehensive care for you and your family, offering the full spectrum of general practice at the highest standard. We are an AGPAL-accredited practice and a teaching practice affiliated with the University of Wollongong. Bulk billing is available, although fees apply to certain services (which you will be advised) and for visitors without a Medicare card.

Welcoming Dr. Heba to the Callala Family.

Dr Heba graduated overseas and brings over nine years of experience in general medicine and clinical oncology. She relocated to Australia to broaden her clinical experience while enjoying the natural beauty of the South Coast. Prior to joining Callala Medical Centre, Dr Heba worked at Gold Coast University Hospital for two and a half years, gaining extensive experience across emergency, general medicine, and surgical wards.

She has developed a strong understanding of the Australian healthcare system and is currently working towards obtaining her Fellowship of General Practitioners in Australia.

Dr Heba is committed to delivering patient-centred care, with a focus on actively listening to patients’ concerns and providing evidence-based management.

Outside of work, she enjoys walking on the beach, cycling, and spending quality time with family and friends. Dr Heba is fluent in both English and Arabic.

Flu vaccines are now available at our surgery.

We’ll be running dedicated flu clinics, where patients are booked in at the same time to keep things running smoothly.

A few things to keep in mind:
• No need to be early – there’s limited seating
• You can also book a standard appointment if that suits you better
• Bookings are only available by phone (not online)

For children:
A nasal spray flu vaccine is available for children aged 2 to 5 years, if suitable.
For many children, this can be a more comfortable and less stressful alternative to a needle.

We’re pleased to welcome Laverty Pathology to Callala Medical Centre.

As of Monday 23 March 2026, Laverty Pathology is now operating from our surgery.

Laverty Pathology is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

We kindly ask our patients to please be patient with the Laverty team as they settle into their new office and get to know our community.

We’re pleased to welcome Dr Eliza Eldridge Bassett to the Callala Family. Dr. Eliza is a Specialist GP Registrar with a special interest in women’s health, paediatrics, and Indigenous health. She has hospital experience in paediatrics and women’s health and is currently a Fellowship Candidate with the RACGP, while completing a Graduate Diploma in Child Health.

Originally trained through the University of Wollongong Rural Clinical School with strong local ties, Dr. Eliza has a strong connection to regional medicine and is proud to care for the Callala community.

Dr. Eliza believes in calm, compassionate, and patient-centred care, supporting individuals and families through every stage of life.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys mountain biking, time in the ocean, and bushwalking along the South Coast.

Dr. Eliza is now accepting new patients.

We would like to let our patients know that as of 10 February 2026, our pathology colleagues at Southern IML Pathology are no longer operating from Callala Medical Centre.

We sincerely apologise for the sudden cease of operation and would like to thank all of the attending pathology staff, as well as the main office team, for their many years of support and service.

A very special mention goes to Emma, who truly felt like one of our own and was well known to many of our patients — she will be greatly missed.

We are pleased to advise that we will be welcoming a new pathology provider, Laverty Pathology, with services expected to commence in early March. Some patients may already be familiar with Laverty through their location at the Standish Centre, Nowra.

📄 Important Information About Your Requests:

• Existing Southern IML request forms can still be used at our Laverty Pathology collection centre, as well as at other Southern IML locations.
• If you have recurring tests and have already submitted your form to Southern IML at our centre, you will need to attend another Southern IML collection centre until you receive a new request from your doctor.

Please note that most pathology specimens can still be dropped off at our reception desk. If you’re unsure whether your specimen can be accepted, please call us and our team will be happy to advise.

We’ve found a jumper/sweatshirt left behind in one of our toilets on Monday morning.

If you think it might be yours, please contact our reception team on 4446 5350 to describe it — we’ll need to know the colour, size, and brand to confirm ownership.

If unclaimed, we plan to donate the item to a local clothing charity to ensure it finds a good home.

We’re excited to welcome Dr Noor Najeeb to Callala Medical Centre, starting from Wednesday, 6th August 2025!

Dr Najeeb is a warm, compassionate GP registrar in her final stage of specialist training in Primary Care. She has a keen interest in women's and children’s health, preventive care, and lifestyle medicine, and is fluent in Arabic. With experience across hospitals and clinics in Queensland and NSW, she’s looking forward to joining our beautiful coastal community and getting to know our patients.

Dr Najeeb will be available Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

To help her settle in, we’re initially limiting some appointment types. But in time, she’ll be providing a full range of general consultations like our other doctors.

Appointments are open now – you can book online via HotDoc or by calling our reception team on 4446 5350.

At Callala Medical Centre, all adult injections and immunisations require a pre-booked appointment through our reception team — these appointments cannot be booked online.

- Adult Injections (e.g. B12, Prolia):
These require a prescription from your doctor before the injection appointment. Common examples include B12 and Prolia (Prolia may also need a blood test beforehand). Once you have the medication, we’ll schedule a time with both a doctor and a nurse to administer it.

- Adult Immunisations (e.g. shingles, COVID, or flu vaccines):
These are typically supplied through government programs and are often already in stock at the surgery. However, you’ll still need an appointment with both a doctor and a nurse.

To ensure safe and timely care, all injection and immunisation appointments must be booked by calling our reception team on 4446 5350. This helps us coordinate everything needed for your visit.
