Before leaving Callala Medical Centre, Dr Wasayid "Waz" Chowdhury asked us to share one final message with the community.

Thank you, Waz, and all the very best for the future.

Dr Waz's farewell message:
"After three incredibly rewarding years, the time has come for me to say goodbye to the Callala Bay community.

It has been an absolute privilege to care for such a kind, resilient and welcoming community throughout my GP training and my first year as a Fellow. I have had the honour of sharing in so many important moments with you and your families, and I will always be grateful for the trust you placed in me as your doctor.

I also want to sincerely thank my colleagues and the entire team at Callala Medical Centre for their friendship, mentorship and support over the past three years. They have played an enormous role in my journey, both professionally and personally.

Many of you are aware that there were plans for me to become a partner in the practice. After careful consideration, I made the difficult decision not to proceed. This decision was driven entirely by my family’s commitments and the need to be closer to home, and was not a reflection of the practice or the wonderful people who work there.

While it is bittersweet to move on, I leave with nothing but gratitude and wonderful memories. Caring for this community has been one of the greatest privileges of my career, and I will always look back on my time in Callala Bay with immense fondness.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives. I wish each and every one of you good health, happiness and all the very best for the future.

With sincere gratitude,
Waz"

It is with great sadness that we announce Dr Wasayid "Waz" Chowdhury will be leaving Callala Medical Centre.

Over the years, Dr Waz has become a highly respected GP, building wonderful relationships with our patients and the wider community. He has made the decision to move closer to his family, and while we will miss him greatly, we wish him every success in this next chapter.

Dr Waz's final day at Callala Medical Centre will be Tuesday, 28 July 2026.

Patients currently seeing Dr Waz are welcome to continue their care with Dr Allan Solling, Dr Noor Najeeb, Dr Eliza Eldridge Bassett, or Dr Heba Abozeid.

Patients receiving ADHD care can continue their treatment with Dr Elsayed Ahmed, who has undertaken the same training as Dr Waz. Please note that Dr Ahmed will be unavailable until Thursday, 13 August 2026.

We sincerely thank Dr Waz for his dedication, compassion and commitment to our patients and our community. He has been a valued member of our team, and we know he will be greatly missed by both staff and patients alike.

Please join us in wishing Dr Waz and his family all the very best for the future.

Flu vaccines are now available at our surgery.

We’ll be running dedicated flu clinics, where patients are booked in at the same time to keep things running smoothly.

A few things to keep in mind:
• No need to be early – there’s limited seating
• You can also book a standard appointment if that suits you better
• Bookings are only available by phone (not online)

For children:
A nasal spray flu vaccine is available for children aged 2 to 5 years, if suitable.
For many children, this can be a more comfortable and less stressful alternative to a needle.

Give Reception a call to book your appointment.
