🧠 Not every headache is “just a headache.” 🧠
And not every headache is a migraine either.
For a lot of people, the neck is part of the story.
With headache, the pain is being driven by structures in the upper neck — often the joints, muscles and surrounding tissues.
That pain can refer up into the head, around the temple, behind the eyes, or into the base of the skull.
Which is why so many people get stuck:
❌ They treat the head,
when the neck is quietly running the show.
The good news?
If the neck is a genuine driver, physiotherapy can help.
At Upwell, that usually means working out:
— is this truly cervicogenic?
— is the neck the main driver, or just a passenger?
— what movements, positions or loads are aggravating it?
— what do we need to improve so it settles and stays settled?
Treatment might include targeted hands-on therapy, mobility work, strength work, posture and loading changes, reviewing your work setup, and a plan to build confidence in movement again.
The goal is not to just “treat the neck and hope.”
It’s to understand the pattern, treat the real source, and give you a plan that actually makes sense.
If your headaches seem to come with neck pain, stiffness, desk time, poor sleep position, or pain with turning your head — it may be worth getting it properly assessed.
Save this post for later, or send it to someone who keeps saying, “I think my headache might actually be coming from my neck.” 🫣
