Anger is a normal emotion, but for children, big feelings can sometimes feel overwhelming!

Children may express anger through yelling, aggression, frustration, emotional outbursts, or even withdrawal. While these reactions can be challenging, they are often a sign that a child needs support to understand what they are feeling and how to respond in a healthy way.

Teaching children practical coping strategies can help them build emotional awareness, self-control, and confidence when managing difficult emotions.

🌬️ Breathe
Use deep breathing, mindfulness, or grounding exercises to help calm the body and regain a sense of control.

🎨 Distract
Redirect attention to a positive activity such as colouring, reading, listening to music, puzzles, or creative play.

πŸƒ Move
Physical activity can provide a healthy outlet for strong emotions. Walking, dancing, sports, or movement breaks can help release built-up energy.

πŸ’‘ Reflect
Once calm, encourage children to talk about what happened, identify how they felt, and explore what they could do differently next time.

When children learn these skills early, they develop stronger emotional regulation, resilience, and problem-solving abilities that can support them throughout life.

At Camden Child & Family Therapies, we work with children and families to understand emotional triggers, develop practical coping strategies, and build healthy ways of responding to everyday challenges.

πŸ’™ Rest is more than just sleep.

When we think about rest, we often think about getting more sleep. But true rest can also mean taking care of our mental, emotional, social, creative and sensory wellbeing.

For children and adolescents, learning what helps them feel recharged and restored can make a big difference to their mood, stress levels, concentration and overall wellbeing.

✨ Small moments of rest can have a big impact.

Early support can make a big difference.

At Camden Child & Family Therapies, we are currently offering comprehensive assessments for Specific Learning Disorder (SLD), including difficulties related to reading, writing, and maths.

Our assessments aim to help families better understand their child’s learning strengths and challenges, while providing practical recommendations to support learning both at home and in the classroom.

✨ Dyslexia
✨ Dysgraphia
✨ Dyscalculia

Term 2 is often an ideal time to seek assessment, as teachers have had the opportunity to observe learning across key academic areas.

For enquiries or bookings, please contact our clinic on (02) 4610 7410.
