Researchers have discovered that the liver has an internal daily clock that controls when it releases certain proteins that communicate with other organs, like fat and muscle tissue. These proteins regulate healthy metabolism throughout the day. The liver protein called endostatin is most effective at breaking down fat when released according to its natural daily schedule rather than at random times. What this means is, eating out of sync with your circadian rhythm confuses the proteins your liver makes that tell your body to burn fat. It's better for your metabolic health to do your eating while the sun is in the sky, have a bigger breakfast or lunch, avoid a large evening meal and stop eating at least 3 hours before bed. https://medicalxpress.com/news/2026-08-liver-boost-fat-breakdown-potential.html?fbclid=IwY2xjawTyGzNwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjEwAGJyaWQRMWhDZUpvaTBZSEZzdDFGRnJzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEewzCTWz85z14EjGFm6wzkuAD2KOkygDxZIm_AOWBVoXpUUv8tl3KxtbQJ0Bw_aem_WlfXA2BIIuG4hjjw5gRoIA

What if one of the keys to a healthier metabolism is understanding how and when the liver communicates with the rest of the body?

Belly fat and vitamin D deficiency is a deadly combination. Carrying excess fat on your torso is a health risk on its own but when combined with low vitamin D, it more than doubles the risk of death in those over 50. If you don't have enough vitamin D in your bloodstream, the amount of inflammation in your body will be higher. This means a higher risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer. Most of my patients are vitamin D deficient, especially in winter. I prefer activated vitamin D called calcifediol. It raises blood levels much better than regular vitamin D. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/08/260813045554.htm?fbclid=IwY2xjawTwldlwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjEwAGJyaWQRMTJsSG1reWVUd2RqMU1QR2VzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEejzqKmkXNxtAXQjB6ciR2eHTELPsTqkro4w0lIT9zxhLeDgBbXg31kdMoeUY_aem_6jqjVkDg8eaZ0eKuiqDfBg

A large study of more than 5,500 adults over 50 found a striking combination of risk factors: abdominal obesity paired with vitamin D deficiency was linked to a 123% higher risk of death over six years. Each condition was associated with increased risk on its own, but together they appeared to creat...

If you are low in vitamin D you are more likely to experience pain. Vitamin D deficiency can cause widespread muscle pain, muscle weakness and tender bones. In winter most of my patients are low in vitamin D because the UV index is too low to be able to manufacture vitamin D from sunshine.

The emergence of new data suggests that the benefits of Vitamin D extend beyond healthy bones. This paper looks at Vitamin D and its role in the aetiology and maintenance of chronic pain states and associated comorbidities. The interfaces between ...

Benfothiamine is the name of the fat soluble form of vitamin B1. It can help to relieve neuropathy symptoms like burning, tingling and pain. Being fat soluble means it can pe*****te into nerves (which are coated in fat) and help to repair nerve damage. It is much more effective than the water soluble form of vitamin B1 called thiamine.

Thiamine, also known as vitamin B1, is an essential nutrient that plays a crucial role in energy metabolism and overall health. It is a water-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in the conversion of carbohydrates into energy in the body. ...

I don't think erythritol is a safe sugar alternative. It increases the risk of blood clots. I think monk fruit is safe but the majority of monk fruit sold is actually 1% monk fruit and 99% erythritol. Make sure you always read the fine print on product labels, not just the advertising on the front panel. https://newstarget.com/2026-07-27-popular-sweetener-harms-brain-raises-stroke-risk.html?fbclid=IwY2xjawTiNXJwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjEwAGJyaWQRMUl0bWJpTnVNZWlubXl6OTFzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEezbd0vWJUsjw8vE5Ywf6kQFYdNF6_qvWAffC-Mi5KHNvtFpSNRnFEuUtGpws_aem_9pLdwIQA7SpPkFxMPUQMkA

Laboratory research indicates erythritol may damage the cells lining the brain’s blood vessels, potentially weakening the blood-brain barrier and increasing stroke risk. Exposure to erythritol caused oxidative stress in human brain endothelial cells and disrupted critical vascular regulation by re...

Adequate protein is so important for strong bones as we age. Approximately 40% of your bones is comprised of collagen, which is a protein. So many of my female patients consume toddler sized portions of protein. You can get away with that for some time, but after menopause it can cause rapid loss of bone and muscle. https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/among-women-taking-enough-calcium-protein-matters-more-2026a1000oy1?fbclid=IwY2xjawTflMRleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFHVFhOTnRUQ01hUmZnMGdIc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHkuTDW-OaeNkJkuvBjssBgCTo82bEbNPJH6MLlpSRg7VB2ygoG1bo9zrXs_q_aem_PGbgaEMKqqpZ4K4r_Fq3ow

Calcium supplementation may not add to the benefits of osteoporosis medications in older women with adequate calcium intake, but a low protein intake is linked to attenuated effects.

Iron deficiency and zinc deficiency are extremely common in my female patients. These two minerals compete for absorption though. That means zinc and iron supplements are best taken with separate meals, at separate times of the day. A blood test is a reliable way to know if you're deficient in these minerals, and if your supplements are working.

Zinc and iron compete during intestinal absorption, but postabsorptive interactions between these nutrients are less clear. Understanding these intera…

Did you know elevated blood sugar can trigger or worsen tinnitus? This is because high glucose levels harm small blood vessels, reducing oxygen and nutrients to the inner ear. Both high sugar and insulin levels can injure the auditory nerve that carries sound signals to your brain. Blood sugar spikes change fluid pressure and electrolytes inside the cochlea, making ringing louder.

Having a fatty liver worsens cancer prognosis. It makes it more likely the cancer will metastasize sooner. A fatty liver is an inflamed liver. It produces high levels of inflammatory chemicals. Some stay within the liver and some travel around the bloodstream. Inflammation is like a magnet for cancer cells. A fatty liver is not a benign condition and not part of getting older. Having a healthy liver can help you live a longer and better quality life. https://ascopost.com/news/july-2026/early-research-explores-how-fatty-liver-disease-may-affect-liver-metastasis-among-patients-with-colorectal-cancer/?fbclid=IwY2xjawTU8TdleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETF3WlJQWHgyalFSbU9zMEdzc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHuP1Qzl0xqXFDdHfTtlhu8f2_vVpsWKE3HH8bDpJlCNJXHF7fng3qcpm75h6_aem_CnPMAG4VGDee8fnFR8cZxA
