Did you know that September is Pain Awareness Month?

This annual global campaign aims to spark important conversations about pain between healthcare professionals, policymakers, individuals living with pain, and the broader community. Chronic pain isn’t obvious from the outside. Many people live with persistent aches and discomfort from conditions like back pain, arthritis, heel spurs, or migraines. This month reminds us to meet that unseen struggle with empathy and understanding.

Effective pain management goes beyond medication. It involves tailored treatment plans that bring together different specialties and multiple therapeutic methods to address each person’s unique needs.

Let’s use this month to shine a light on chronic pain and help create a world where everyone can access compassionate, effective support.

🌟 Congratulations, Caitlin!

We’re excited to celebrate Caitlin Mc Manus, our Accredited Practising Dietitian, on successfully completing the Sports Dietitians Australia Course. 👏💚

With years of experience as a dietitian primarily in the community, Caitlin has supported a wide range of cohorts to achieve their health and nutrition goals. Her background as a national-level swimmer showed her the importance of fuelling the body appropriately, while growing up in a large family highlighted the social and cultural importance of food. This combination of experiences drives her passion for helping people of all ages improve their health and quality of life through evidence-based nutrition.

Caitlin is passionate about helping clients understand how nutrition can support performance, health and wellbeing, and we’re proud to see her continuing to expand her expertise.

"When you combine the right supports, you don't just meet the NDIS criteria, you maximise your child's outcomes."

Would you like to learn more about the proposed NDIS changes to support your child’s development? Access this webinar designed for families, carers, and support coordinators of children with disability. This session is facilitated by Physiotherapist and Director of flipperacademy, Chelsea Marchetti, and Altaira Allied Health's Accredited Practising Dietitian, Caitlin McManus, bringing expert insights from both therapy and nutrition perspectives.

You’ll learn how funding decisions are shifting toward real-life outcomes, and the benefits of using the funding towards:
- aquatic therapy
- dietetics and nutrition

Importantly, we’ll explain why these supports matter. Aquatic therapy helps build strength, coordination, confidence, and water safety, while nutrition ensures your child has the energy, hydration, and nourishment needed to fully participate and progress. For many children, especially those with sensory challenges, getting the right nutrition can be difficult, which can impact their ability to engage in therapy. You’ll learn how these supports work best together to benefit your child.

To access the webinar recording (video or audio versions), email [email protected]

This workshop is provided for educational purposes only and does not constitute personalised financial, medical, or allied health advice. Please book an assessment for tailored guidance. Please note we are not a registered NDIS provider. Participants who are self-managed or plan-managed may be able to access dietetic and aquatic therapy services where these supports align with their individual NDIS goals and plan funding. The NDIS does not approve or guarantee funding for specific services. Participants are encouraged to check with their support coordinator or plan manager to confirm eligibility and funding arrangements.
