We’ll be covering
- Exam overview
- Pros/Cons of different sitting times
- How to build a study plan
- Pitfalls that contribute to the ~41% fail rate
- Practically work through various study approaches

The session is led by Dr Yusuf Hassan, a General Surgical Registrar + Founder of GSSE Roadmap who has been through the overwhelm, the false starts, and the trial-and-error of figuring out what actually works.

Are you a penultimate or final-year medical student with an interest in surgery?

Join us for the NSW Surgical State Hub, hosted by the Australasian Student Surgical Association (ASSA), for a full day of hands-on surgical skills, interactive workshops, and networking with surgeons from across NSW.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first-ever collaborative MOA x SUSS Research Night, hosted at Northern Clinical School!

We hope you enjoyed an evening of insightful discussion, practical career advice, and honest conversations about research and its role in both surgical and physician medical training. Thank you to the wonderful doctors who shared their experiences and pearls of wisdom.

A massive thank you to Prof. Margaret Schniztler (Head of Northern Clinical School) for graciously supporting us in this event, and to Wootack Hong (Research Officer) and Olivia Loukas (ICT Officer) for your huge efforts in organising the event, making sure the night ran smoothly, and for being such wonderful hosts!

We’ve got a huge HPB event coming up at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Professor Goro Honda from Tokyo Women’s Medical University – a pioneer of the Glissonean approach and minimally invasive liver surgery – will be giving a Grand Rounds on how to turn detailed liver anatomy into safe, reproducible hepatectomy.

The Friends of the Library warmly invite you to a special talk, 'The Hodgkinsons' Gifts: a collection of medical works and surgical items', celebrating the extraordinary generosity of Darryl Hodgkinson and Katherine Hassler-Hodgkinson to our Library. The Hodgkinsons will share the remarkable story behind a collection built over decades, exploring how their gifts of over 140 rare and significant books to Rare Books and Special Collections have enriched scholarship and research across generations. Among the highlights on display will be Vesalius' De Humani Corporis Fabrica, pivotal in understanding human anatomy; the first edition of French military surgeon Ambroise Paré's collected works, which revolutionised surgery; Tagliacozzi's De Curtorum Chirurgia per Insitionem, innovating the technique of skin grafting; and Carpue's 1816 account of successful operations for reconstructing a lost nose. ______
