Two regulatory changes land for Australian allied health on 1 July 2026.

NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27. Therapy is now priced profession-by-profession. Each discipline has six distinct line items: direct service, cancellation, non-face-to-face, provider travel (claimed at half the hourly rate against a dedicated item), NDIA-requested reports, and telehealth. Psychology direct service rose 8.6% to $252.99/hour. Telehealth therapy gets its own item line for the first time.

Medicare Assignment of Benefit. New bulk-billing consent requirements commence. Following stakeholder feedback, the Department of Health confirmed a 12-month transition period allowing verbal assignment of benefit for all bulk-billed services. Practices must retain evidence of consent for at least two years. Enduring assignment of benefit becomes available for MyMedicare-registered patients.
