Eligible Canberra households can now access a low interest loan to purchase an approved electric cargo (e-cargo) bike and associated equipment.

E-cargo bikes provide households with a realistic alternative to using a second car, helping families reduce transport costs while maintaining the flexibility needed for day-to-day activities.

Canberrans can access low-interest loans through the Sustainable Household Scheme to make their homes and lives more energy efficient. You can check your eligibility online, learn more about the process and find an approved supplier.

Canberra households are demonstrating strong and sustained demand, though the Sustainable Household Scheme, for energy efficiency, electrification and low-emissions transport upgrades.

More than 26,000 households, or 1 in 8 homes across Canberra, have received loans worth more than $290 million since the commencement of the scheme in 2021.

Let’s make our streets safer for everybody!

He’s not a cyclist. He’s a dad, a neighbour and someone trying to get home safely.

Everyone riding deserves space, respect and streets designed to protect them.

Slow down. Pass safely. See the person.

Everyone deserves to get home safely, no matter how choose to travel.

Thank you Andrew Leigh MP for hopefully closing the loophole that Barnarby Joyce and Kevin Hogan opened.

Only allow e-bikes that meet the European safety standard be imported and sold in Australia.

Confiscate all high powered e motorbikes and e bikes that don’t meet this standard.

Hopefully Australia have better testing and education on what is street legal and what is not.

Hopefully Australia have better testing and education on what is street legal and what is not.

West Midlands Police have been told to stop using the wheel-spin method they used to determine that a delivery rider's electric cargo bike was an illegal motor vehicle. The bike, hired through a council-funded scheme run by the Birmingham Bike Foundry, was seized and destroyed. The charges against the rider have now been dropped.

The test in question involved officers lifting the rear wheel of the bike off the ground and spinning the pedals to measure speed at the wheel. Bodycam footage of the stop showed the officers concluding on that basis that the bike had exceeded the 15.5mph legal assistance limit that applies to electrically assisted pedal cycles in the UK. Cycling and disability groups argued the method has no relationship to how the bike behaves under load on the road.

The force initially issued the rider with a fixed penalty notice for riding without insurance, despite cyclists not being required to carry insurance in the UK. The Birmingham Bike Foundry, which loaned the bike, backed the appeal alongside campaigners, arguing that officers across UK forces need proper training on how EAPC rules actually work.

The immediate cost was one ÂŁ6,000 cargo bike, no longer recoverable, and a livelihood interrupted. The wider question is how many bikes have been seized under the same method by other forces, and how many riders have simply not had the support to fight the charge.

It’s great to see ACT Policing crack down on this dangerous & disgraceful behaviour. If you see it, report it.

ACT Policing is urging anyone with information, including locations or footage of this behaviour, to report it to Crime Stoppers. Reports can be made anonymously. https://www.crimestoppersact.com.au

From this weekend, ACT Policing will commence a targeted operation to address those in the community that are participating in anti-social behaviour using electric ‘e-bikes’ and ‘e-scooters’ as well as those using illegal e-motorcycles and off-road motorcycles...

I didn’t know the import laws for e-bikes were changed back in 2022 by Barnaby Joyce and Kevin hogan.

This reel explains what happened, but nobody seems to know why.
