STAFF SPOTLIGHT

We’re shining a spotlight on Srabani Mitra, one of the wonderful volunteers who helps make CJJH such a welcoming place. 💙

A mother of two teenagers, Srabani brings a wealth of experience and a passion for learning to her role. Before joining us, she worked as an English teacher for many years and completed a Master’s degree in English Literature. 📚

For Srabani, one of the most rewarding parts of volunteering at Calvary John James is the people around her. She describes the working environment as one where staff, colleagues and mentors are always welcoming, creating a positive and supportive atmosphere.

When asked about the values that have guided her, Srabani shared four words that beautifully capture her approach to life and service:

💙 Welcoming
💙 Kindness
💙 Discipline
💙 Dedication to service

“These lessons have guided me over the months to bring positivity to my surroundings.”

Thank you, Srabani, for sharing your time, experience and positivity with our Calvary community. We’re so grateful to have you as part of the Calvary John James Hospital family.

Creating spaces that reflect care, culture and connection.

At Calvary John James Hospital, we're committed to creating a healthcare environment where every person feels welcomed, respected and valued.

We're proud to introduce our new Road to Recovery MediCurtains, featuring beautiful Indigenous artwork by renowned Aboriginal artist Biara Martin. 🎨 The design represents resilience, community and healing, celebrating the rich cultures and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

More than just a practical addition to our hospital, these specially designed antimicrobial curtains help create culturally safe, calming and inclusive spaces for our patients, visitors and staff.

💜 Every Road to Recovery MediCurtain also supports Purple House, an Aboriginal health organisation providing life-saving dialysis services to people living in remote communities, helping people remain connected to their families, culture and Country.

Together, we're creating spaces that promote healing, celebrate diversity and strengthen our commitment to providing compassionate care for everyone who walks through our doors.

After almost four wonderful years at Calvary John James Hospital, we’re saying farewell to our incredible midwife, Delphine Perriot, as she begins an exciting new chapter in Adelaide.

Delphine has been so much more than an exceptional midwife. She has been a trusted colleague, a compassionate caregiver, and a friendly face whose kindness has been felt by women, families, and colleagues across our hospital. Her warmth, positivity, and genuine care for others have left a lasting impact on the CJJH community.

When asked about her favourite memory of working with Delphine, Zoe recalled supporting a woman in labour together, using gentle bed yoga techniques to help rotate the baby from left to right. Their teamwork helped the labour progress beautifully, resulting in a beautiful vaginal birth a moment that reflects Delphine’s calm expertise and commitment to exceptional care.

Zoe also shared that Delphine’s smile could brighten even the busiest day, while Laura described her as the kind of midwife who truly listens to every woman’s story, hopes, and wishes. She makes every woman feel heard, supported, and safe, all while being their biggest cheerleader throughout their pregnancy journey.

Their messages to Delphine say it best: “Never stop being you. Adelaide is so lucky to be gaining your sparkle and brightness,” shared Zoe. Laura added, “Take every opportunity as it comes anyone who crosses paths with you will be richer for having met you.”

Delphine, thank you for your compassion, dedication, and the incredible difference you’ve made over the past four years. Your impact reaches far beyond the Maternity Unit, and while you’ll be deeply missed, we know Adelaide is gaining someone truly special.

From all of us at Calvary John James Hospital, thank you, and we wish you every success and happiness in your next chapter. 💙
