From community events and life-saving education to the launch of innovative new equipment, July was packed with opportunities for St John ACT to support and strengthen our community.

In July we:

💚 Our dedicated volunteers gave an incredible 1,399 hours of their time
⚡Celebrated the national launch of the new St John Pocket AED
🍎 Engaged 408 students through our First Aid in Schools program

St John ACT has recently enhanced the capability of our Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) with the addition of a ZOLL X Series Advanced Monitor/Defibrillator, providing our clinicians with access to advanced clinical monitoring and diagnostic tools in the field.

This investment ensures our MERT clinicians are equipped with the technology needed to deliver a high standard of care across a range of medical emergencies and event environments.

Just as importantly, it creates valuable opportunities for our volunteer paramedicine students to gain hands-on exposure to advanced monitoring equipment and assist to develop their clinical assessment skills alongside experienced clinicians .

We're officially past the halfway mark of 2026, and what a year it's shaping up to be!

The temperature may have dropped in June, but our momentum certainly didn't. 💪

June was made up of:

✅ First Aid support at 49 events across the territory, made possible by the 880 hours of time our volunteers generously gave the community
✅ International visitors & celebrity encounters
✅ Well deserved recognition for some of our long standing members at the Investiture Ceremony
✅ 1,293 students empowered through our First Aid in Schools program
✅ 732 participants trained in life-saving first aid skills by our amazing trainers

Every event, course and community interaction reflects the dedication of our volunteers, members and staff who continue to make a difference every day - Thank you for always being here to help 💚

Today is Thank a First Responder Day. It is a chance to recognise the people who step up when it matters most.

Right across Australia, first responders are there for their communities, offering care, support and reassurance when it’s needed most.

At St John we’re proud to stand alongside the first responders in the ACT, ready to help and provide first aid whenever we’re called on.

Sometimes it’s the little things that count, so today we simply say thank you 💚

They’re calm in a crisis.
They’re there in the moments that matter.
They are the courageous and caring.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re recognising the incredible St John volunteers who support communities across the ACT - at events, during emergencies, and in everyday moments in between.

They’re the reassuring presence behind the scenes, helping communities stay safe so they can enjoy every moment that matters.

So this week, we say it loud: Thank you to all our incredible volunteers, you are the heart of St John. 💚

The unofficial sponsor of the courageous and caring.

As we recognise National Road Safety Week, it’s a timely reminder that every driver plays a role in keeping our roads safe - especially our learner drivers who are at the very beginning of their journey.

Road safety starts, not just with safe driving skills, but also with the skills to respond if something does go wrong and an accident occurs.

That’s where the St John Learner Driver First Aid Course makes a real difference. It gives Learner drivers the skills to respond in an emergency and it is completely free!

✅ Builds confidence behind the wheel
✅ Prepares young drivers for real-world situations
✅ Supports faster, life-saving responses after accidents

Learner drivers in the ACT also receive 5 hours towards their required driving hours after completing this course. It is a simple but powerful step toward safer roads for everyone in the ACT.
