⚠️ Important message for families of children with a device, or anyone with a hidden emergency device.

A national test of the new AusAlert emergency alert system will take place at 2:00pm on Monday 27th July 2026 in NSW and the ACT.

The alert may be received on compatible phones, some smart watches, Apple CarPlay devices, children’s safety watches and tablets. The message will clearly state that it is a test.

As the test will be sent as a Critical Alert, it cannot be turned off through device settings. Anyone who needs to avoid receiving the alert will need to switch their device off or place it on aeroplane mode before 2:00 pm.

The sound or emergency message may be distressing or confusing for some children and young people. Talking about the test beforehand can help them know what to expect.

We’re reflecting on a meaningful NAIDOC Week 2026, celebrating 50 Years of Deadly through culture, connection and community across our regions.

In Wagga Wagga, RACR and headspace Wagga Wagga joined a range of local celebrations, including the Flag Raising Ceremony and march, Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation NAIDOC Community Day and the Ashmont Community Centre NAIDOC Celebration.

headspace Batemans Bay also attended the Mogodha Big Day Out, joining local youth services in the dedicated youth zone, which was full of free activities for young people and families.

Thank you to the Elders, community members, organisations, staff and volunteers who welcomed us and made these events possible. It was a privilege to celebrate alongside our communities. 🖤💛❤️

Recently, Tara and Marlo attended a roundtable on domestic, family and sexual violence in Wagga, hosted by NSW Women’s Safety Commissioner, Dr Hannah Tonkin.

The event brought together services, multicultural, religious and community leaders to discuss community responses to family violence and the important role of trusted local connections.

Tara and Marlo shared insights from RACR’s work in primary prevention and working with men who use violence, while connecting with others across the broader community. 💙

For 50 years, NAIDOC Week has celebrated the strength, culture and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme, 50 Years of Deadly, marks a milestone. It’s a tribute to the Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression, and the communities who keep showing up, year after year.

This year’s official NAIDOC Week poster, Paralpi, by Zaachariaha Fielding, reflects movement through generations, memory, song and story.

As Zaachariaha shares:

“Paralpi is about movement — movement through generations, through memory, through song and story. It speaks to the strength our people carry and the beauty of culture continuing to evolve while staying deeply connected to who we are.”

Still deadly. Always. ❤️🖤💛💚💙🤍

We were so proud to attend the official opening of the new Gungahlin Community Centre, where Gunners Place has now found its permanent home in the co-located Youth Hub.

It was a beautiful celebration, with a Welcome to Country, cultural dancing, speeches and a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark this exciting new chapter for the Gungahlin community.

The new centre includes inclusive spaces for events, programs, meetings, creative activities and youth support, giving people of all ages and backgrounds a place to connect, gather and feel welcome.

Our team loved being part of the day — and even managed to get a photo with Paddy Platypus and Ember Echidna! 🦆🦔

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this important community space to life. 💙

Members of our team recently attended the Family Relationship Services Australia National Conference 2026 in Brisbane.

The conference theme, Showcasing: Practice, Evidence, Impact, highlighted the important work happening across the family and relationship services sector and the difference this work makes for children, families and communities.

The conference was a valuable opportunity to connect with others across the sector, hear new ideas and reflect on evidence-informed practice.

We are grateful for the conversations, insights and perspectives shared, and the opportunity to bring these learnings back into our work with individuals, families and communities. 💙
