Michelle Moray - The Holistic Naturopath

Michelle Moray - The Holistic Naturopath I'm a Canberra based naturopath and holistic health practitioner. My main modalities include herbal medicine, nutrition and lifestyle advice.

I take a holistic approach to treatment, focusing on uncovering the underlying cause of any acute or chronic condition whilst providing targeted treatment tailored to each individual. What you can expect in your first consultation…
In your initial consultation, the presenting complaint will be examined first. You will be asked questions about the history of the complaint and what triggers the symp

toms. A tongue and/or iris examination will be performed to gather further information. A review of all the bodily systems will be covered to gain a more in-depth understanding of your internal state of health, and uncover the underlying cause and any contributing factors. A review of your diet is also usually conducted. At the end of the consultation you will be provided with a treatment plan which includes herbal medicines and/or nutritional supplements along with any necessary dietary and lifestyle recommendations. Treatment outcomes and how soon results can be expected is also discussed. Depending on the chronicity of the presenting complaint/condition, follow-up consultations will be necessary to monitor progress and continue with treatment.

As of May 2026, the name change has now been officially endorsed internationally, including by major Australian organisations.

“PCOS” is being transitioned to “PMOS” — standing for Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. The possible name change of PCOS reflects something many practitioners and patients have known for years: this condition is far more complex than the current name suggests.

PCOS is one of the most common hormonal conditions affecting women, yet many still struggle to get answers, proper testing, and comprehensive support.

A more accurate name could help improve awareness, reduce confusion, and encourage a more holistic treatment approach.

Have you heard about the proposed PCOS name change? What are your thoughts?

Creatine is one of the most misunderstood supplements for women — yet it’s also one of the most well-researched.

As a practitioner, I look beyond fads and ask:
👉 does this support long-term health, strength, and resilience? Is this evidence based or strongly rooted in empirical use?

Creatine supports:
• muscle preservation as we age
• improved exercise performance
• cognitive health
• metabolic function
• bone health

This becomes especially important during perimenopause and menopause, when muscle loss accelerates and insulin sensitivity declines.

No, it won’t make you bulky.
No, it’s not just for athletes.
Yes, it can be part of a well-rounded women’s health plan.

✨ Dose: 3–5g daily
✨ Form: creatine monohydrate
✨ Timing: anytime, consistency matters

Always personalise supplementation and work with a practitioner if unsure.

As the year comes to a close I want to express my gratitude for being able to do what I do. As I finish up my 10th year in clinical practice, I am still in awe at my clients’ commitment to their healing journey and trusting me with their health.

Being able to help people achieve their goals and make a difference to their quality of life is a blessing 🙏🏼

I’ll be taking a break and returning to clinic on the 4th of February.

Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and peaceful new year 🕊️

Most people think ADHD is only a daytime problem.
But for many adults, it starts the night before.

Many adults with ADHD don’t just struggle with attention during the day — they also experience light, fragmented, or non-restorative sleep at night.

Even when you get enough hours of sleep, the quality and structure of sleep may be impaired. This directly affects how well your brain functions the next day.

This is why improving sleep quality (not just sleep hours) can dramatically improve ADHD symptoms and how well medication works.

ADHD support isn’t just about stimulation.
It’s about restoration.

✨ Better sleep = better brain function.

TCM Kidney Yin + Jing Nourishing Qi Balls 🖤✨

Feeling burnt out, dry, wired-but-tired, or like your energy reserves have been running on fumes?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this often points to Kidney Yin + Jing depletion.

These TCM-inspired nourishing balls are built to support that deep restoration:

🖤 Black sesame seeds – replenish Yin + Jing
♥️Goji berries – nourish Yin & Blood
🌰 Walnuts – support Kidney Jing + brain “marrow”
🍫 Cacao – calms the Shen + builds Blood
🍯 Dates & prunes – moisten + gently tonify
🌱 Tahini – rich, grounding, mineral-dense

Soft, grounding, and naturally sweet — these are a beautiful food-based tonic for anyone recovering from stress, burnout, overwork, long-term fatigue or Yin deficiency.

Save for later & tag someone who needs deeper nourishment 🖤

Many people see “elevated bilirubin” on their blood test and instantly panic — but the truth is, it doesn’t always mean something is wrong 👀

From a naturopathic perspective, bilirubin is a message about how your liver, bile flow, and red blood cell turnover are functioning… and the meaning depends entirely on the context.

Swipe through to learn:
✨ What bilirubin actually is
✨ When a mild elevation is completely harmless
✨ When to investigate further
✨ What elevated bilirubin can really indicate
✨ How we support this naturopathically (root cause, not just the number)

Remember: an isolated, mild elevation — especially with normal liver enzymes — is often nothing to worry about. But when symptoms or other abnormal markers show up, it’s a sign to look deeper.

Ever feel like some days you're on top of the world, and others you just want to curl up in bed?

That’s your cycle talking!

✨ Syncing your lifestyle with your menstrual cycle can help you feel more energised, balanced, and in tune with your body.

💡 Key Takeaways:
✔️ Cycle syncing helps you eat, move, and fast in a way that supports your hormones!

✔️ Best time for longer fasts & intense workouts? Follicular & Ovulation phases!

✔️ Best time to rest & nourish? Menstrual & Luteal phases!

✔️ Supplements can support your cycle, but consult a naturopathic practitioner for tailored advice.

Which phase are you in right now? Let me know below! ⬇️💬

If you want to support liver detoxification you can’t go wrong with introducing more cruciferous veg (like brussel sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, and kale) into your diet 🥦

Cruciferous vegetables have unique sulfur-containing compounds called glucosinolates (GLS).

When activated (through cutting, chewing, etc) these GLS will turn into biologically active derivates of isothiocyanates, and indoles (like sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol).

These derivatives can inhibit or activate phase I detox pathways and activate phase II pathways in the liver, leading to more successful elimination of toxins from the body.

Just a word of caution - if you have a sensitivity to FODMAPS or experiencing gut pain/bloating, cruciferous vegetables can worsen symptoms.
