✨ Overwhelmed to Organised is a mid-year reset, with a twist. 💜

It’s not only about strategies and systems to get through the to-do list. It's about you — remembering who you are under all the roles, and what you want this next season to hold.

📅⏰Together we made visible, the invisible loads mums hold + explored psychosocial strategies to lighten them. A little less overwhelm, a little more organised, means more time for what matters. 🥰

💜 🫶Thank you to the beautiful group of mums who came along — and huge thanks to Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre and Whitsundays Early Childhood 0-8yrs for making this workshop free for our fabulous local mums. 🙌

💜😝A while ago I had a really exciting work opportunity — and I minced it.

🤪Not just "I could've done better" or "it wasn't my best work." Nope. I minced it.

🤦‍♀️I could tell you the date got shifted. That I was medicated for a migraine. That the time changed at the last minute and I had to scramble to organise someone to collect one of my kids. But none of that is really the point.

💜💝The point is the lesson I had to relearn: hold my boundaries. I had originally set a date and time that honoured my cycle and my role as a mum — and then I let every one of those boundaries drop. And it served no one.

🫶🥰The very next day, a mum said to me, "It seems like everyone else has it all together." Part of me wanted to keep the polished version of myself intact and not talk about yesterday. But that also meant letting a mumma keep believing she was in deficit — when she certainly wasn't.

💜💜I'm sharing this story with you now too because the belief that other mums have it all together is STILL rife. It causes us to give more and more of ourselves.

💚💚But here's the part we often forget: we can't hold our boundaries while pretending we don't need them. When we drop our boundaries, we hand over the very things that are protecting us.

😅If you take anything from my spectacular mincing, let it be this:
💜Hold your boundaries and share your 'minced it' stories — they break down the myth that everyone else has it all together.

💜Eeeeek – here it is. On spotify!

🫶After writing an article for the Melbourne Age I got a message from the fabulous Carina O'Brien from the Working Mumma podcast asking would I chat with her about community, about Matrescence. 🥳OMG! Yes! I’m always keen to talk about Matrescence.

💜😅Suddenly I realised saying yes, meant facing some fears, and not having the comfort of the delete button.

💝But it also meant an incredible opportunity to spread the word about matrescence; its stages, how it can play out in the workplace, and impact a woman’s sense of self.

‍🥰So after a nail biting yes – here is the end result.

Feel free to share it with a friend who may not know about Matrescence, or how the shift from ‘me to we’ can completely change the way we feel about our careers.

🤷‍♀️Someone asked me recently – WHY? Why I spent time promoting other people’s businesses on my socials.

😳🤨This isn’t the first time I’ve been asked this question – so here’s the rant.

💜Firstly, self-promotion was never the motivation for writing a book or starting this work. 💝The WHY was that I wanted to give mums who felt broken, alone and wondering what the hell was happening to them – a new way of seeing things, a new language, and a way to come home to themselves.

💜🥳And secondly – I really enjoy seeing other women succeed and learning from them. The best mentors I’ve had have all been huge advocates of referencing, sharing, and championing the work of other women.

🤡I’ve come to see that the question was never really about my actions – it was about people's discomfort seeing women smashing the stereotype of the competitive, bitchy and independent woman.

💜🥰The truth is - just like mothering – we can’t do care work alone. We’re stronger, more knowledgeable, and way more powerful in creating change – when we’re working together.

💝💜So here’s to more collabs, more posts championing others and creating the personal and professional villages we all deserve.

Rant over,

🥳How lucky are we! Last week Kiera Hinshaw Naturopath came to chat with the Masterclass for Mums. Her session, which focused on Moods, Energy and Hormones, was a beautiful blend of science, feminism and feminine energy. 💟🩷

☀️❄️Kiera stepped us through the seasons of our cycle, showing us how our hormones impact energy, and how to nourish our body with food, rest and movement across our cycle. To which many of the mums said – why aren't we taught this stuff in school? 💯💯

🧐The funding that goes into women's health research and women's brain research is staggeringly low – and yet, as Kiera pointed out, we're now 51% of the population.

🤕🫶During the session we also spoke about menstrual migraines, PMS and PMDD. Kiera reminded us that what many of us suffer through as our ‘normal’ - doesn't have to be. As a naturopath, Kiera shared lifestyle tweaks, foods and supplements that can be incredibly beneficial in supporting our hormone function, mood and energy.

💜💝This was such a beautiful hybrid session, and the mums online and in the Motherhood and Matrescence office certainly gained lots of insights. Thank you for helping us close the gap in women's health Kiera Hinshaw Naturopath!

💜Starting our day with self-care: a luxury, necessity or act of rebellion?

⭐😌Self-care is a topic that can bring up a lot of feelings for mums; the discomfort of putting ourselves first, pressure from additional logistical loads, and feeling like we need permission to step away.

💜🫶In the Masterclass for Mums we've been challenging social scripts which frame self-care as a reward - or grocery shopping alone. 💖Instead, we've reframed self-care as essential to thriving in this season of mothering and – experiencing joy and contentment in our own lives.

🧘‍♀️🥰Recently we visited Vibe Yoga Pilates and had a lush session with Maniya. She created a nurturing space for our mind to let go of all the ‘shoulds’ and as she guided us deeper into connection with our body she led us further towards self-compassion and self-love. Thank you Maniya, this session allowed us to feel rested, calm and reminded us that our needs matter too.

💜So was this act of self-care a luxury, a necessity or an act of rebellion in a system that demands so much from mothers....I'll let you decide. 😉

💜May 4th, 1865 (161 years ago) – the day Alice tumbled into Wonderland.
🍰🍥She ate cakes that made her too big, drank potions to make herself small enough to fit. She was constantly told to shrink, stretch and contort herself to squeeze through doors that weren't built for her.

⚠Sound familiar? These are the pressures of motherhood—trying to fit into expectations and spaces built by everyone else.

🐛When the Caterpillar asked "Who are YOU?" she couldn't answer. "I hardly know, sir, just at present—at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then."

🦋This is matrescence. The disorientation of not recognizing our self anymore. Of losing parts of our self while discovering new parts— can feel like we've fallen down the rabbit hole.

💜🫶Alice eventually found her way. But she shouldn't have had to do it alone.
Neither should you.

That's why I wrote Motherhood and Matrescence – The Truths We Were Never Told. To help you navigate this transformation without feeling lost and alone. You can find the link and some freebies on my website.
