TODAY is Rare Disease Day! ššš
Across the world, our rare disease community is sharing our colors and demanding equity for the 300 million people living with a rare disease.
But whatās the difference between equity and equality?
ā Equality means giving everyone the same resources or opportunities.
ā Equity recognizes that people have different needs and provides the specific support required to reach fair outcomes.
In healthcare, equity means ensuring that every personāno matter how rare their conditionāhas a fair and just opportunity to be healthy. Thatās why we are committed to breaking down barriers to care, improving research, and advocating for global change.
š Historic Progress for Rare Diseases! š
This month, the rare disease community reached a huge milestone! The World Health Organizationās Executive Board has officially recommended the adoption of the first-ever World Health Assembly (WHA) Resolution on Rare Diseases at the upcoming 78th WHA. This resolution is a critical step toward securing global recognition, action, and healthcare equity for people living with rare diseases.
Letās keep the momentum going. Together, we dazzle!
