Last week, we were invited to talk about ‘Importance of Skincare’ at the Hill’s Men Shed. Dry skin may seem like a nuisance but it is more than that.

Jade from the Cancer Council NSW gave us all some helpful tips about preventing skin cancer. That’s twice in one year where we got the honour of working with Jade 🙏

Thank you for the warm and wonderful welcome to all The Hills Men's Shed We are so grateful for your support 💕 We hope you have all being doing your homework and moisturising everyday 😉

Last week, Susan had the wonderful opportunity to speak about Travel Health at the West Epping- Carlingford Uniting Church.

A heartfelt thank you to Bruce and everyone who attended for your incredibly warm welcome and enthusiastic engagement. It was inspiring to see so many people come together to learn, ask thoughtful questions and share their experiences. We truly are lifelong learners, and opportunities like these remind us that learning, connection and community are all important parts of living well.

A special mention to the Men’s Fellowship, which meets on the second Monday of every month. The group provides a welcoming space for men to build friendships, encourage one another, enjoy meaningful conversations and strengthen their sense of community and faith. It’s a wonderful reminder that health isn’t just about our physical wellbeingit also includes social connection, purpose and belonging. Reach out to West Epping Uniting Church if you would like learn more!

💙 We’ve decided to extend Diabetes Week for one more week! 💙

Jelly beans have long been a favourite for treating a hypo (low blood glucose), but have you heard of Gluco Chews?

Gluco Chews are specially designed for the treatment of hypoglycaemia and may be a convenient alternative because they:
✅ Provide a precise 3.8g of fast-acting glucose per chew, making it easier to know exactly how much glucose you’re taking.
✅ Are made with dextrose and sucrose for rapid absorption. Four chews provide approximately 15g of carbohydrate, aligning with the standard treatment for a hypo. (According to Glucology by IBD Medical)
✅ Have a soft, chewy texture that’s easier to chew than traditional glucose tablets.
✅ Come in delicious Orange, Raspberry, Lime or Mixed packs, so there’s something for everyone.
✅ Are packed in a portable, airtight tube that fits easily in your pocket, handbag, school bag or glovebox, helping keep them fresh and ready when you need them.

Whether you prefer jelly beans or GlucoChews, the most important thing is to always have a fast-acting glucose source with you if you’re at risk of a hypo.

There’s still time to enjoy 20% OFF selected diabetes essentials until this Saturday July 25th including:
✔️ Diabetes socks (including compression socks)
✔️ Jelly Beans
✔️ Gluco Chews
✔️ Lancets
✔️ Sharps containers
…and more!

📣 Pneumococcal Vaccine Changes

From 1 July, a new pneumococcal vaccine will replace the previous vaccines funded under the National Immunisation Program (NIP), providing broader protection against pneumococcal disease, including pneumonia, bloodstream infections and meningitis.

The routine vaccination age has also been lowered from 70 to 65 years, meaning more Australians are now eligible for a free vaccine. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults aged 25 years and over (previously 50 years and over) and adults aged 18 years and over with certain medical risk conditions are also eligible. The new schedule also simplifies vaccination, with most eligible adults no longer requiring an additional pneumococcal vaccine after receiving the new vaccine.

To check your eligibility or book your vaccination, call our pharmacy or book online:

🤍 We are completely astonished… $7,531!! 🤍

We honestly don’t know what to say.

Our goal for this year’s Biggest Morning Tea was to raise $5,000 for the Cancer Council.

Together… we raised an incredible $7,531! 💛☕

Last year, we thought raising $5,816 was something special, our biggest fundraising total ever. But this year… wow. You completely knocked it out of the park.

This isn’t our achievement.

This belongs to our community.

To every person who came along for a cuppa, bought a raffle ticket, made a donation, shared our posts, donated prizes, baked treats, volunteered their time, played music or simply encouraged someone else to get involved…

Thank you.

We couldn’t have done this without you.

We often say that our community may be local, but it thinks big… and it gives even bigger. This year’s result is proof of that.

Cancer affects all of us in some way. Yet for one morning, people from all walks of life came together with one purpose to help others.

When we put aside our differences, support one another, and focus on what truly matters, this is what can happen.

This is what community looks like.

This is what kindness looks like.

This is how we make the world a better place with one act of generosity at a time.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of such an incredible community.

Share this achievement with your family and friends and celebrate what a community can achieve when it comes together with kindness, compassion and a shared purpose.

Home testing can be a convenient first step to better understand your health, monitor ongoing conditions or prompt you to seek help sooner.

We stock a range of easy-to-use home screening tests from touchbio_official including:
🩸 Iron
☀️ Vitamin D
💧 Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
…and more.

It is important to note, results are only one piece of the puzzle and should always be interpreted in the context of your symptoms, medical history and overall health with our pharmacists and your doctor.

A home test should never replace professional medical advice but it can be a valuable starting point for a conversation about your health. Pop into the pharmacy to find out which home screening test may be right for you.
