Celebrating my Birthday Month!
I’ve always loved birthdays, but now more than ever, I truly celebrate each one. It’s become a time to reflect with gratitude and be happy with who I am and where I am in life.
When I was younger, the idea of "getting older" wasn’t something I gave much thought to. In my mind, old age was somewhere around 50 and when I reached that milestone my family gave me the most amazing birthday week celebration. It was wonderful, and even though my body wasn’t always feeling its best, I decided I could handle being 50, it wasn’t so old after all.
For the next couple years, whenever someone asked my age, I’d just say 50. In my head, I wasn’t ready to be any older—it felt like 50 was as good as it gets. Those next couple of years were a bit of a roller coaster. My body felt worse, my emotions were all over the place, and I started to wonder if the ‘downward slide’ of age that is talked about, was actually true.
Then we decided to have a BIG adventure! My hubby and I left jobs that weren’t bringing any joy and moved to a new state to be closer to our children. And that’s when everything started to shift. I finally pursued something I had always been passionate about—natural wellness—and began studying it full-time.
That period of learning was transformative. I discovered so much about myself, about how our bodies work, and most importantly, how we can live better, healthier lives. Even though the study was hard work, and I was busier that I had ever been, I felt a filled with energy and purpose. The arthritis that once flared up constantly no longer controlled my life. I wasn’t in pain all the time, and I was finally enjoying life again.
That’s when I realized ageing isn’t something to fear. It’s something to celebrate!
So now, I don’t just celebrate turning a year older—I embrace it. Every year, every birthday, I remind myself that age is just a number. I choose to believe these are the best years of my life, and I’m ready for all the adventures ahead.
