🐾 Look after your health — your dog is counting on you

Last weekend, Casterton truly came alive for one of the country’s most loved events — the Australian Kelpie Muster.

From the Poet’s Breakfast, where Acute Care Nurse Unit Manager Shane and Chief Executive Rowena shared poetry — including Women of the West — to the energy right across town, the Muster was a wonderful celebration of community, creativity and connection.

In partnership with the National Centre for Farmer Health, we offered free Farmer Health & Lifestyle Assessments, giving locals and visitors alike the chance to check in and take a moment for their wellbeing.

At Youth HQ, we welcomed 370 people through the doors to enjoy pottery, rock painting, the smoothie bike and other activities — a vibrant space for all ages to get involved.

The Seasons Support Group’s Knit and Natter stall showcased beautiful handmade creations, while the much-loved yarn sheep of Woolly West Fest made their way around town — from the parade float to the health checks and Youth HQ— bringing plenty of smiles along the way. Thank you to Woolly West Fest for the loan!

A big thank you to our volunteers, who brought great spirit to the parade float and helped everything run smoothly throughout the weekend.

Events like the Kelpie Muster highlight the strength and connection of our community, and we’re proud to be part of it each year.

☀️ Supporting skin health in our community

At the end of May, Casterton welcomed the Lions Mobile Skin Check and Awareness Unit, providing free skin checks to local community members.

Delivered by the dedicated volunteers of the Lions V District Cancer Foundation, in partnership with the Casterton Lions Club and Casterton Memorial Hospital, the two-day clinic was a valuable opportunity for early detection and awareness.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, making initiatives like this an important reminder to stay sun safe and check your skin regularly.

Thank you to the Lions volunteers and our Community Health team, whose time and effort made these clinics possible.
