𝗗𝗼 𝗜 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗠𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗳 𝗜'𝗺 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗖-𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?

It’s a question I get asked all the time—especially by mums-to-be who are planning for a C-section. And the short answer is: yes—you absolutely need to take care of your pelvic floor, no matter how you give birth. ❤️

Whether you're having a C-section, planning a vaginal birth, or have already had your baby 👶, your pelvic floor is an incredibly important part of your body. In fact, we think it’s extremely important to maintain pelvic floor health throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. 💪

Pregnancy can start affecting your pelvic floor as early as two weeks into your pregnancy, thanks to the relaxin hormone that loosens the muscles and ligaments in preparation for birth. This can leave your pelvic floor vulnerable and in need of support during and after pregnancy.

Sadly, 50% of women who’ve had a baby, whether by C-section or vaginal delivery, experience prolapse—another reason to start thinking about your pelvic floor now and continue caring for it throughout your life.

So what does the pelvic floor do? A lot! It’s responsible for spinal and hip stability, sexual satisfaction, and, of course, keeping everything in place down there. The pelvic floor is involved in the birthing process as well, and post-birth, it continues to support us as we go through life.

At Active Mum, we know just how crucial pelvic floor health is. That’s why we weave pelvic floor and core training into everything we do. Whether you're pregnant, post-birth, or just looking to maintain a healthy pelvic floor for the long term, we’re here to help. Our training programs are designed to ensure that exercise and pelvic floor health go hand in hand, helping you stay strong, supported, and pain-free at every stage of life. ✅

Take care of that pelvic floor — it’s one of your most precious assets!

🚨 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁? 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗨𝗽 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝘆𝗺... 😬

Wait – what?! 😳
Yep, I said it!

If you’re newly pregnant (or even just thinking about it), you need to know this 👇

From 𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝟮 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀, your body is flooded with 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗻 – it softens your joints and ligaments so your body can grow and birth a baby 👶

BUT… it also 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 — and doing your usual workouts like:
🚴♀️ Cycle class
🧘♀️ Reformer Pilates
🏋️♀️ HIIT or gym sessions
🏃♀️ Running..𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 that shows up as pelvic pain, leaking, or even long-term dysfunction later.

Here’s what most people don’t tell you:
You might not feel it now... but by 24 weeks you could be dealing with sharp pain, instability, abdominal separation or a pelvic floor that just isn’t coping 💥

🎥 In this video, I explain:
✅ Why “just keep doing what you were doing” isn’t great advice
✅ The real risks of common workouts during pregnancy
✅ What kind of exercise your body actually needs right now

💡 It's not about giving up movement — 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆-𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 that protects your pelvic floor, pelvis and core and supports you through birth and beyond 💪

❤️ You only get one body, one pelvis, one core — look after it NOW so you can enjoy pregnancy and bounce back feeling amazing.

👉 Watch the video and tag a pregnant friend who needs to see this!

𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗧?? 𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗬 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛𝗬 & 𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗡 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘? 𝗛𝗢𝗪𝗦 𝗛𝗢𝗪!

Pregnancy is one of the most powerful things your body will ever do—but it doesn’t mean you have to give up feeling strong, mobile, and confident.

At Active Mum, we believe that pregnancy is like training for a marathon. And just like you wouldn’t prepare for a marathon by playing volleyball, you shouldn’t go into pregnancy doing just any workout. You need a program that’s designed for this unique phase of life—and that’s where we come in.

🎥 Watch: Why Pregnancy-Specific Exercise Makes All the Difference

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀
Pregnancy transforms your body physically, hormonally, emotionally—and permanently. The right kind of exercise can help you:

✅Prevent or reduce back pain, pelvic pain, sciatica and incontinence

✅Maintain a healthy weight and avoid excessive weight gain

✅Support strong posture and movement as your belly and baby grow

✅Prepare your body for labour and delivery

✅Recover more quickly post-birth

✅Stay mobile and agile—right up to your due date

But all of that depends on doing the right kind of training.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆-𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 (𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗚𝘆𝗺 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲)
This is not the time for guesswork or “just modifying what you usually do.” Your body is creating an entire human being—bones, brain, lungs, nervous system. That deserves training that’s tailored, gentle, and powerful all at once.

When women take on generic or unsuitable programs during pregnancy, we often see:

❌Excessive weight gain (20–30kg+), making postnatal recovery harder

❌Severe abdominal separation (diastasis recti) that doesn't heal properly

❌Sharp pelvic or p***c pain from unstable joints and poor alignment

❌Pelvic floor weakness and sometimes even prolapse

❌Feeling stuck on the couch by the end of pregnancy, rather than active and mobile

The truth is, pregnancy can be comfortable, strong and even energising—but only when the body is trained specifical
