This week marks National Eosinophilic (EOS) Awareness Week, an opportunity to raise awareness of eosinophilic diseases and their impact on the lives of patients and families.
Eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases (EGIDs) are chronic inflammatory conditions that occur when eosinophils, a type of white blood cell, accumulate within the gastrointestinal tract. This can lead to ongoing inflammation, tissue damage, and a range of debilitating symptoms.

At Cura Day Hospitals Group, we're proud to partner with leading Gastroenterologists who play a critical role in the diagnosis and management of these complex conditions. Diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy are often essential in achieving an accurate diagnosis, enabling earlier intervention, more effective treatment, and improved patient outcomes.

This week is NAIDOC Week, a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. At Cura Day Hospitals Group, we acknowledge this year’s theme and its focus on strength, connection and cultural continuity, aligned with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Patient Care Guidelines and our commitment to culturally safe, respectful and person-centred care.

For five decades, NAIDOC Week has elevated the voices of communities, honouring Elders, celebrating culture and recognising the resilience and leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It reminds us of the importance of listening, learning and embedding culturally capable practices that recognise the holistic nature of health, including connection to Country, family and community.

NAIDOC is more than a week. It reinforces our shared responsibility to deliver care that is respectful, culturally safe and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through our ATSI Patient Care Guidelines, we continue to strengthen our approach, ensuring every patient interaction reflects dignity, understanding and connection.

Today is Red Apple Day 🍎 – a time to raise awareness about bowel cancer and show our support for those affected.

Early detection can save lives. When found early, bowel cancer is one of the most treatable cancers. That's why it's important to know the signs and symptoms and to participate in regular screening.

June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder of how important prevention and early detection can be.

Bowel cancer is the second deadliest cancer in Australia, yet it is also one of the most treatable when found early, with up to 99% of cases successfully treated in their early stages. Early action truly saves lives.

At Cura Day Hospitals Group, we are proud to play a part in raising awareness and supporting the prevention, early detection and treatment of bowel cancer through our experienced Visiting Medical Officers and dedicated endoscopy units across Australia.

Today, Cura Day Hospitals Group recognises World Hand Hygiene Day, reaffirming our shared commitment to patient safety through simple and effective hand hygiene practices.

This commitment is reinforced through our ongoing Rub In, Rub Out (RIRO) initiative, reminding our teams that clean hands help save lives by preventing the spread of infection through correct hand hygiene.

Consistently following best practice hand hygiene is one of the most effective frontline measures to protect our patients, our colleagues and ourselves from infection.

Building strong habits also means supporting one another by speaking up, welcoming reminders and working together to uphold a culture of safety and accountability.

In recognition of their commitment to human caring, we are proud to share our patient experience survey results for the second quarter of 2025-2026.

We were proud to be a sponsor of the Calvary Mater Newcastle Calvary Mater Newcastle Bowel Cancer Research Ball, a wonderful event supporting vital bowel cancer research trials and bringing together clinicians, researchers and the broader community.

The evening was a meaningful reflection of the generosity, passion and strong community spirit that makes the Hunter region so special. We were delighted to connect with so many like‑minded supporters who share a commitment to improving outcomes for patients and their families.

Thanks to the collective generosity on the night, approximately $54,000 was raised, directly supporting life‑saving research, increased awareness and improved patient outcomes.
