Meet Abbey, one of our new graduate Occupational Therapists based in Roma.

As part of her role, Abbey works both in the clinic and across outreach communities, gaining experience in different settings and supporting people with a range of needs.

It’s one of the experiences that can shape a graduate year with Vital Health, with opportunities to learn, grow in confidence and see firsthand what allied health looks like beyond the clinic.

Abbey is part of our New Graduate Program, with applications now open for our 2027 intake across Western Queensland and New England, NSW.

Curiosity is an important part of growing as a clinician, particularly in those first years of your career.

For Abbey, it means continuing to learn, asking questions and understanding each person before deciding how best to support them.

As one of our new graduate Occupational Therapists in Roma, Abbey is building that experience every day as part of our New Graduate Program.

Over the next month, we’ll be hearing more from Abbey about her first year with Vital Health and what life as a new graduate has looked like for her.

Applications for our 2027 New Graduate Program are now open across Western Queensland and New England, NSW.

A great opportunity for our Western Queensland Right Care Right Place team to connect with colleagues from across Australia.

Irma, Abby, Emily and the team recently travelled to Melbourne for the RCRP All-Site Planning Day, joining teams from North West Melbourne, Alice Springs, Darwin and Adelaide, along with the NEDC team.

The day was spent reflecting on the progress of Right Care Right Place so far, sharing experiences and lessons from each region, and discussing the priorities that will guide the program through its next two years of funding. It was also a valuable chance to hear different approaches from around the country and consider how those ideas could inform the work happening here in Western Queensland.

Most importantly, bringing everyone together gave the teams time to strengthen relationships, share local insights and make sure those experiences continue to contribute to the broader direction of RCRP.

And after a full day of planning, there was time for a Melbourne breakfast before the trip home!

Communication gives us the opportunity to connect with the people around us, learn new things, express ourselves, build relationships, make choices and participate in everyday life.

This year's theme, Communication creates possibility, is also a chance to recognise the important work of Speech Pathologists and the many different ways they support communication and swallowing across all stages of life.

A big thank you to Rebecca and all of our Speech Pathologists across Vital Health for the knowledge, creativity and care they bring to the people and families they work with.

Better movement starts with small, consistent habits.

You don't need to overhaul your routine overnight. Simple changes, like starting your day with light movement, breaking up long periods of sitting and making time for regular activity, can support your strength, mobility and overall wellbeing.

In this guide, our Physiotherapists share five practical habits to help you keep moving every day.

Long days can take a toll, but looking after yourself shouldn't be an afterthought.

Physically demanding work, repetitive tasks and long hours can place extra stress on your body over time. Paying attention to early signs of discomfort and making time for recovery can help you stay healthy both on and off the job.

This Tradies National Health Month, make your health a priority. If pain or injury is getting in the way of work or everyday life, our allied health team is here to help.

True or false?

More isn't always better when it comes to exercise.

Exercise doesn't have to be high intensity to support your health. The right program is one that's appropriate for your goals, current fitness and individual needs. Consistency is often more important than intensity.

An Exercise Physiologist can help you find an approach that's safe, achievable and tailored to you.
