A joyful day out for our Scalabrini Austral residents at the Liverpool City Council Seniors Concert! 🎶💃

After visiting the provider stalls and collecting a few treats, everyone enjoyed lunch, live music and plenty of dancing. Santo, Gladys, Emma and our wellbeing team embraced every moment, creating wonderful memories together, while Santo was a crowd favourite, showing off his moves and dancing around the room!

A beautiful day of connection, laughter and happy memories. 🧡

Four years. Four wins. One incredible team.

Scalabrini Communities has been named the winner of the 2026 Xref Engage Best Workplace Award, marking our fourth consecutive year receiving this incredible recognition! 🏆

We celebrated the Scalabrini way at our Staff Appreciation BBQ in Chipping Norton, complete with Crazy Hair Day, plenty of team photos and CEO Richard de Haast swapping his usual role for a pair of barbecue tongs. 🌭🔥

While the hairstyles were bold, the achievement was even bigger.
This award recognises workplaces where people feel heard, valued and connected, and where employee feedback leads to meaningful change.

Most importantly, it reflects the culture our people have built together: one shaped by kindness, belonging, teamwork and a shared commitment to making a difference.

To every member of the Scalabrini team: this achievement belongs to you. Thank you for everything you do. 🧡

Inspired by the excitement of the recent FIFA World Cup 2026, Scalabrini Chipping Norton team launched its own Chipping Norton Cup as part of a new monthly staff wellbeing and engagement initiative as a part of our Belong programme.

The friendly games encouraged teamwork, connection, movement and plenty of laughter. Our residents also joined in the fun by playing along, cheering on the teams and sharing special moments with staff members.

The winning team proudly received their medals, but as this candid video shows, the biggest win was seeing everyone enjoying the experience together! 🏆🥇

Every resident has a story worth celebrating, and this week we're shining the spotlight on one of St Hilarion's most treasured community members, Mrs Hilda.

Born in Bern, Switzerland, in 1926, Hilda has lived a remarkable life defined by resilience, generosity and kindness. After migrating to Australia in 1957, she built a career, dedicated countless hours to volunteering, and lovingly knitted blankets for people experiencing homelessness through Hutt Street.

Since joining St Hilarion by Scalabrini in 2019, Hilda has become known for her gentle nature, warm smile and genuine care for everyone around her. Whether she's enjoying her daily walks, chatting with fellow residents or sharing words of gratitude with staff and volunteers, Hilda brings joy wherever she goes.

One of her favourite sayings is:
"I am very lucky to be here."

Earlier this year, Hilda celebrated the incredible milestone of her 100th birthday, surrounded by residents, staff and friends. To mark the occasion, she was also honoured to receive congratulatory letters from His Majesty The King and the Prime Minister of Australia.

Thank you, Hilda, for reminding us that a life lived with kindness, compassion and gratitude leaves the greatest legacy. 🧡

We are so proud to share that three wonderful volunteers from St Hilarion by Scalabrini were recognised at the Co.As.It. SA Italian Community Volunteer Recognition Awards in Adelaide.

Congratulations to Isabella Giorgio, recipient of the Aged Care Service Award. For around 15 years, Isabella has been a much- oved part of The House of Saint Hilarion, generously supporting resident activities, outings and special events, always going above and beyond to help residents feel connected, engaged and valued.

Congratulations also to Pasquale Pittiglio, recipient of the Community Service Award. Pasquale has been volunteering for more than 10 years and brings incredible warmth, energy and community spirit to our Live Easy Social program - whether he’s leading exercise sessions, calling bingo or sharing a meal with clients.

We also warmly congratulate Flavia Tropeano, who received a Certificate of Recognition for her wonderful contribution over more than 12 years. Flavia is well known for sharing her traditional Italian cooking, helping keep Italian culture, family traditions and meaningful food memories alive for our residents.

Thank you Isabella, Pasquale and Flavia for the joy, kindness and dedication you bring to our community. This recognition is so well deserved. 👏

"Crazy for mission” and proud of it.

Scalabrini Communities is pleased to be featured in The Weekly Source, highlighting the vision behind our proposed Harbourside redevelopment at Drummoyne.

More than a retirement living project, this is about creating a future community shaped by purpose, care and belonging with independent living, affordable rental homes, aged care support, shared spaces and renewed connection to the beautiful Parramatta River.

At the heart of this vision is Scalabrini’s mission: to care for people, especially those most vulnerable, while creating places where migrant older Australians can continue to live with dignity, connection and joy.

Meet Andrew, one of our residents at The Village by Scalabrini Drummoyne.
Born in Worthing, West Sussex in England, Andrew moved to Australia in 1980 and has lived a rich life filled with family, travel, creativity and connection.

Now at Drummoyne community, Andrew enjoys staying socially connected, joining bus outings, taking part in activities, and sharing meaningful moments with others.

A lifelong lover of painting and drawing, Andrew is especially drawn to painting houses. His latest artwork, The Village, was inspired by a simple walk through Drummoyne. He presented this special piece to our team at The Village.

“I was walking through the road, and I decided to paint it,” Andrew shared.

For Andrew, art is more than a pastime. It is a way to express himself, stay active, and continue doing what brings him joy. Stories like Andrew’s remind us that creativity, connection and community continue to thrive at every stage of life. 🎨
