White light enters looking singular. But when it passes through the prism, a whole spectrum is revealed.

The colours were not created by the prism.
They were already there.

That is how I see human potential.

So much of who we are can remain compressed, diffuse or unseen -our voice, sensitivity, courage, imagination, grief, joy, intuition, creativity.

Creative practice becomes the prism.

Through image, colour, movement, symbol and reflection, what is held inside begins to separate, take form and become visible.

Not because art invents a new version of you.

Because art can help you see more of what is already there.

This is at the heart of Active Kreative:

contain the experience
refract it through creativity
reveal the spectrum

The question is not only, Who am I?

It is:

What part of my spectrum has not yet had the chance to emerge?

It was time for me to enter the medicine of the shamanic drum.

I’ve been drawn to the way rhythmic sound can work through the body not only as something we hear, but as a multisensory experience of vibration, repetition, movement and presence. The steady pulse of a drum can become an anchor for attention, breath, embodiment and nervous-system regulation.

This weekend, I was honoured to take part in a two-day shamanic drum-making workshop Siobhán Delaney and birth a very special drum into life.

The process itself is ceremony.

We began in circle, connecting with the intention and medicine of the drum. Then came the choosing of the kangaroo hide and willow frame, cutting the skin, soaking it overnight, returning the next day to stretch and frame it, and slowly weaving everything together by hand.

And then came the artwork.

I didn’t want to simply decorate the drum. I wanted to listen for what belonged on it.

A story began to emerge: cosmos → sound → heart → roots → Earth.

The sun and stars above.
The rhythmic songline travelling through the centre.
The Tree of Life holding the heart.
Roots moving downward into the earth.
Ukrainian ancestral symbols woven through the field as marks of memory, belonging and lineage.

It became a meeting point between ancestry, creativity, sound, body and earth.

Now comes perhaps the hardest part…

Waiting.

The skin needs time to dry, settle and become ready.

So for now, this drum has a body, a story and an intention but I still haven’t heard its voice.

The next chapter begins when it is ready to be played. 🖤✨🥁

What you repeatedly imagine, your brain can begin to rehearse.

Mental imagery and real action are not the same, but they can recruit overlapping brain networks. When you draw what you are imagining, you add movement, attention, visual feedback and meaning.

The image leaves the mind and becomes an experience.

Your eyes see it.
Your hand traces it.
Your body participates.
Your nervous system begins to recognise the pattern.

This is why creative practice can become a form of embodied rehearsal.

Not: draw it and it magically appears.

But:

Imagine it. Draw it. Repeat it. Make the new pattern more familiar to your brain and body.

I have a personal love for this technique, coming from European School of printmaking -Linocut is rarely used in the therapy room, yet it brings together several powerful therapeutic processes.

Participants begin by translating what is present for them into a simple symbol. Carving then adds an embodied laye- pressure, resistance, rhythm, hand–eye coordination and sustained attention.

Therapeutic printmaking research highlights qualities such as containment, reflective distance, mirroring, unpredictability and repetition as meaningful aspects of the process. A 2026 woodcarving pilot also reported improvements in mood, resilience, anxiety and depressive symptoms, although the evidence is still emerging.

Then comes the reveal: the image returns reversed - familiar, but different.

And one block can be printed again, rotated and reimagined..

That is where linocut becomes more than printmaking -it becomes a medium for embodied attention, symbolic expression, perspective and reflection.

This is a method you rarely see in the therapy room — linocut.

We started with one question:

What is present for me right now?

Then we carved it.

Pressure. Resistance. Rhythm. Focus.

The room became quiet.

And then came the best part- the reveal.

You lift the paper and suddenly see your image reversed.

Familiar, but different.

Then you print again. Rotate it. Repeat it. Play.

Same matrix. Different impression.

The feedback?

Calm. Relaxing. Fun. And lots of “WOW.”

Maybe linocut deserves a bigger place in creative therapy.

Would you try it?

Living with awareness is a practice - noticing the moment you begin to reach for the next thing -more comfort, more approval, more success, more beauty, more certainty - the hope that it will finally make you feel complete or feel fulfilled again.

We live in a culture that has become very skilled at selling us the dream of happiness.

A better home.
A different body.
A new purchase.
A new relationship.
The next achievement.

But believing that happiness can be bought is still a choice.

This is why understanding hedonic adaptation matters.

We adapt. What once felt exciting, luxurious, validating or deeply desired can gradually become ordinary. And without awareness, we can begin chasing the next thing before we have even noticed that we stopped appreciating what is already here.

The practice is not to stop wanting.

It is to notice.

What have you adapted to in your own life?

What once felt extraordinary that now feels normal?
What do you already have that an earlier version of you once deeply wanted?
And what are you chasing now, believing it will finally make you feel different?

Sometimes awareness does not ask us to acquire more.

It asks us to see again. Your nervous system can be regulated without buying into a dream but being present with self. The most comforting pleasures in life are free.

✨ What is the Higher Self?

Your Higher Self is not the perfect version of you waiting somewhere in the future.

It is the wiser perspective within you — the part that can see beyond immediate fear, pressure, habit and expectation.

It is the part of you that quietly knows:

This doesn’t feel right anymore.
I need to trust myself here.
I don’t have to keep proving this.
There is another way forward.

Across spiritual and psychological traditions, we find different names for this deeper dimension of self — the soul, the true self, the observing self, the Self, inner wisdom.

For me, the most important question isn’t:

“Who should I become?”

It is:

“What part of me is already asking to be lived?”

Maybe it is your courage.
Your softness.
Your discernment.
Your authority.
Your creativity.
Your compassion.
Your trust.

In our Higher Self Image workshop within The Atlas Creative Circle, we give that emerging self a visible form through guided imagery and symbolic self-portraiture.

Not to escape who we are today.

But to recognise something that may already be here.

🧭 The Higher Self isn’t necessarily somewhere ahead of you.
Sometimes it is the part of you that already knows the direction.

When life feels overwhelming, our attention is often everywhere at once:work, family, relationships, decisions, the past, the future.
Sometimes we don’t need another answer.
We need a way to come back to our centre.
In our Sacred Geometry workshop, we explored this through a simple circle and connecting lines.
The circle became a container, asking: What holds me?
The lines revealed connections and patterns: Where is my energy going?
And the centre became our inner compass , the place we can return to when everything around us feels noisy.

Sacred geometry doesn’t have to be complicated. It can simply become a creative pause, a way to slow down, see your life from another perspective, and reconnect with what feels true for you.

✨ When you feel overwhelmed, what brings you back to your centre?

Save this for the next time your energy feels scattered.
