Lanie Meyer: Counselling & Workshops

Lanie Meyer: Counselling & Workshops My name is Lanie. As a counsellor and creative artist living with Periodic Paralysis, a rare condition I know first hand how challenging life can become.

I love to offer you a safe space where you can find solutions and live an empowered life. Hi, my name is Lanie and I am currently working as a counselor and workshop facilitator. My Diploma in Counselling was a natural follow-up to my initial Bachelor of theatre and Dramatic Arts with a minor in Psychology. Throughout my life, I have been on a journey to understand myself and my chronic pain which

I have lived with for over 30 years. This lived experience has driven my passion for helping others with Chronic Pain and bringing people together to renew our perspective and approach towards our own pain. Finding diagnosis and understanding prognosis. Registered as a Level 2 Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association as of 2024.

The right people are always there to pause, listen and sit alongside you. They help slow the world down, in the best way.

Love this!

You asked someone if they were OK. You meant it. And they… didn't really answer. Maybe they changed the subject, gave you a quick "yeah, all good," or went quiet.

It's easy to walk away thinking you got it wrong, or that they didn't want you to ask. But often, both things are true at once - they loved that you asked, and they're just not ready to talk about it yet.

Opening up can take time. Someone might still be making sense of things themselves, worried about being a 'burden', or simply caught off guard in that moment. None of that means your question didn't land. Sometimes just knowing someone noticed, and cared enough to ask, is what stays with them.

Try not to take their silence personally. Let them know there's no pressure, and that you're still there. Then check in again another day. The door you opened doesn't close just because they weren't ready to walk through it yet💛
