Our research team is leading a new study investigating ways to improve bone health, physical function and quality of life in people living with multiple sclerosis (MS).
People with MS are at increased risk of low bone density, osteoporosis, falls and fractures, driven by factors such as reduced physical activity, mobility limitations, vitamin D deficiency, and long-term corticosteroid use. Despite this, bone health remains an under-recognised aspect of MS care.
This study will evaluate the effectiveness, acceptability and feasibility of ONERO™, a supervised high-intensity resistance and impact training (HiRIT) program designed to improve bone strength and physical function.
This exciting collaboration brings together researchers from Deakin University, Monash University, Griffith University, Edith Cowan University, Perron Institute and The Bone Clinic, and is supported by a Medical Research Future Fund (NHMRC) Clinician Researchers Grant.
