“You don’t look disabled.”

A person’s appearance doesn’t tell us how much pain, fatigue, sensory overload or difficulty they may be experiencing.

This Invisible Disabilities Week, 19 to 25 October, we’re encouraging a little less assumption and a little more understanding. 🌻

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a voluntary way to signal that someone may need extra support, patience or time. You don’t need to know their diagnosis to ask, “Is there anything I can do to help?”

Listen to the answer, respect their privacy and remember that someone who isn’t wearing a sunflower may need support too.

A lovely morning with Pixie Friends 💗

Thank you for inviting us to your Sprizzletastic morning tea, a special gathering for sponsors and supporters. It is incredible to see local young people truly make a difference in the community.

It was lovely to spend time with you and meet some of the people supporting your work. We really appreciated being included and having a chance to connect over a cuppa and learn all about the impact of this incredible kidpreneur!

Thank you for bringing us all together! ✨

Every family deserves a space where they can feel safe, connected and celebrated. 🌈💚

We're so excited to be part of the Rainbow Families Resilience Camp this November!

Kelly from Evolve Wellbeing Psychology will be delivering two resilience workshops as part of this wonderful initiative, bringing families together to explore connection, confidence and practical ways to navigate life's challenges.

We're looking forward to meeting the families, sharing some ideas and, most importantly, being part of an experience that celebrates Rainbow families exactly as they are.

ADHD is so much more than “being distracted.” 💚

October is ADHD Awareness Month, and we’re sharing this thoughtful piece created by Maisie from Faith Lutheran College during her placement with us at Evolve.

Maisie’s message is a good one: ADHD can affect focus, emotions, organisation, motivation and everyday life, and it doesn’t look the same for everyone.

Understanding ADHD also means moving away from assumptions. Difficulty with focus isn’t laziness. Different brains may need different strategies, environments and supports to thrive.

A big thank you to Maisie for using her creativity to help us share an important message with our community.

And a reminder from us this ADHD Awareness Month: understanding someone’s differences can be far more helpful than judging them for those differences. 🌱

Wondering whether an autism assessment could help you understand yourself or your child? 🌿

Taking that first step can bring questions: What happens during an assessment? What information will I need? What could I learn?

Our latest blog walks through the process for children and adults, including developmental history, interviews and assessment tools. It also explores how the findings can guide practical support at school, work and in everyday life.

At Evolve Wellbeing Psychology, our approach is respectful, collaborative and focused on understanding your individual strengths, experiences and needs.

Sometimes the most valuable thing you can do is simply show up. 💚

For us, networking isn’t about collecting business cards or making a quick introduction. It’s about getting to know the people and organisations working alongside us in our community.

Every conversation helps us better understand what support already exists, where the gaps are, and who we can connect people with when they need something beyond what we provide at Evolve.

We’re always looking for opportunities to meet and collaborate with people across the NDIS, allied health, medical, legal and broader community sectors.

If you’re holding a local networking event, professional catch-up or community initiative you think Evolve should know about, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.

Because good local networks are built by showing up, having conversations and staying connected.

There’s more than one way to access psychology. 💚

One of the questions our Client Support team hears regularly is, “Can I use this funding with you?”

The answer may be yes.

Evolve accepts a wide range of funding and payment pathways, from Mental Health Care Plans and private health insurance through to NDIS, WorkCover Queensland, Victims Assist Queensland, third-party funding and private payment.

So if you’ve been putting off reaching out because you’re unsure what you’re eligible for, what your funding covers or how much you’ll need to pay, give us a call. You don’t need to work it all out before contacting us.

We also currently have reasonable wait times across our psychology services, with particularly good availability for assessments.

For adults considering an ADHD and autism cognitive assessment, initial assessment appointments are currently available within approximately one week.

Our Client Support team can talk you through our services, current availability, fees and the funding pathways we accept.

📞 Call us on (07) 3864 4944

Please note: Evolve is not a bulk billing clinic and out-of-pocket fees apply when using a Mental Health Care Plan.

Meet Junyan, Registered Psychologist and Clinical Registrar at Evolve Wellbeing Psychology.

One of the strengths of a multidisciplinary psychology team is being able to connect people with clinicians whose experience, therapeutic approach and cultural understanding align with what they need.

Junyan brings experience across both psychological therapy and psychometric assessment.

Her therapeutic work includes supporting adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, sleep difficulties, adjustment and life transitions, confidence and self-esteem.

She also has a particular professional interest in migrant and international student mental health and supporting people navigating life outside their home country.

As a bilingual psychologist who speaks English and Mandarin, Junyan can provide an additional option for clients who may feel more comfortable accessing psychological support in Mandarin.

Her assessment experience spans children, adolescents and adults and includes autism, ADHD, cognitive abilities, memory, adaptive functioning, personality and developmental concerns.

Junyan’s work is grounded in evidence-based practice, with an emphasis on collaboration and ensuring clients feel heard, understood and actively involved in their care.

We’re very pleased to have Junyan as part of Evolve’s clinical team.

We’re delighted to be part of this camp held by Rainbow Families Queensland, where Evolve Wellbeing Psychology will be delivering two Resilience Workshops! 💚

Inclusive experiences like this create opportunities to connect, build confidence, try something new and simply enjoy being part of something where you’re welcomed as you are.

We’re really looking forward to contributing to the program and sharing some practical, engaging ways to explore resilience together.

If you know someone who would benefit from an inclusive Rainbow Family focussed camp experience, please share this with them or tag someone who might like to know about it. 🌿

We can’t wait!

When was the last time your child was surrounded by other rainbow families for a WHOLE weekend?

Not just met one other child with two mums or two dads… but spent an entire weekend surrounded by families that look different in all sorts of beautiful ways?

That’s one of the things I’m most excited about for our very first Queensland Resilience Camp.

Our kids spend so much of their lives in school, sport and other spaces where they might be the only child in the room with LGBTQ+ parents.

For one weekend, they won’t be.

They’ll just be kids. 🥹

Running around Camp Cooby, trying new activities, laughing, making friends, sharing meals, sleeping in cabins and probably coming home absolutely exhausted. And somewhere amongst all of that fun, something really important is happening too….

They’re building friendships. They’re seeing other families like theirs. They’re building confidence and resilience. And they’re experiencing that quiet little feeling of belonging without needing to explain why they belong.

That’s a huge part of why we wanted to bring Resilience Camp to Queensland.

📍 Camp Cooby

If you’ve been wondering whether camp might be right for your family… maybe this is your sign.
