“I feel like my breath stops at my belly button.”

A feeling that is more common than most realise, especially after a c-section.

You take a deep breath… but it feels like it just doesn’t go anywhere.

Sometimes your chest moves, but when you try to breathe into your abdomen, it just doesn’t seem to move.

Pregnancy, abdominal surgery, pain, stress and simply holding tension can all influence how your abdomens moves and your breathing feels.

Next time you’re lying down, check in with your breathing.

Does your abdomen gently expand as you breathe in?

Or does it feel like you can’t quite get the movement there?

If this sounds familiar, send me a message. 🤍

💛 Things I’ve heard clients say after an Abdominal Massage treatment-

🤍“I didn’t realise it was so tense.”
🤍“I can breathe again.”
🤍“I forgot what it was like to take a deep breath.”
🤍“I haven’t had any indigestion since my last treatment.”
🤍“I didn’t realise how much I was holding in my stomach.”
🤍“My tummy feels so much softer.”
🤍“I feel lighter.”
🤍“I stood up and instantly felt taller.”
🤍“It doesn’t feel like it’s pulling anymore.”

✨ Every person is different, and every body responds differently.

These are simply some of the words my clients have shared after treatment.

One of the things I love most about Abdominal Massage & Abdominal Scar Therapy is helping people become aware of tension they didn’t even realise they were carrying.

Sometimes the biggest change isn’t what you see...
It’s how you feel.

Not because it hurts, but because it feels strange.
Maybe it’s numb, maybe it’s tight, or uncomfortable.
Maybe it brings back the memory of the time it came to be.

This is so common.

A scar isn’t just something in the surface. As your body heals, the tissues underneath & surrounding the area may become restricted, which can contribute to feelings of tightness, pulling or sensitivity.
And a scar can hold more than a physical reminder.

For some people, a scar is just a scar.
For others, it represents a birth, a difficult illness or surgery, an emergency, or a chapter they’d rather forget.

If you’ve made it this far…
Place your hand gently over your scar.

Take a moment to notice.

How does it feel?

Is there numbness?
Tightness?
Sensitivity?
Restriction?
Or maybe it feels completely comfortable.

There is no right or wrong answer - Your relationship with your scar is unique.

Abdominal Massage & Scar Therapy creates a safe space to gently reconnect with that part of yourself. More ease, less tension, more space to breathe.

✨ What actually is Abdominal & C-Section Release? ✨
A question I’ve been getting a lot lately is, “What exactly is it?!”

At its core, it’s built on the same foundations as the remedial massage treatments many of you already know and love.

We start by assessing your posture, breathing patterns and abdomen to identify areas of tension, restriction and compensation. We then use gentle, specific hands-on techniques to address those restrictions, as well as in the scar before reassessing movement, tension and breath.

The goal isn’t just to treat a scar - it’s to improve the way your body moves, breathes and functions as a whole.

“But I’ve had a v*ginal birth. Can I still benefit?”
Absolutely.

While scar treatment is included for those who have had abdominal surgery, we always begin by assessing and treating the abdomen first. Pregnancy affects everyone’s core, breathing patterns, posture and abdominal wall, regardless of how they gave birth.

Add in the physical and emotional demands of parenting, and it’s common to see tension, compensation patterns and nervous system overload develop over time.

This treatment can help improve abdominal mobility, reduce feelings of tightness or pulling, support core connection, improve breathing patterns and encourage nervous system regulation.

Many women leave feeling lighter, calmer and more connected to their bodies.

Because healing isn’t just about the scar - it’s about helping your whole body feel safe, supported and functioning at its best again. 🤍

April is C-section awareness month. 🤍

Not every C-section looks the same.
And neither does how it feels after.

For some, it’s strength.
For others, it’s something still being processed.

If you’ve experienced a c-section, whether calm, chaotic, planned or unplanned - I see you 🤍

You’re not alone in it, and you don’t have to carry it quietly.
I’m here for support, always.

When you have knee surgery, you leave with a rehab plan - physio, exercises, and follow-up care.
But when you have major abdominal surgery like a C-section, too many women have reported all they’re told is to not to drive for 6 weeks and watch for infection.

Many women assume that once their C-section scar heals, that’s the end of it. But scar symptoms can continue long after a belly birth, including:
• Numbness
• Tightness
• Pulling sensations
• Pain in and around the scar
• Sensitivity around the scar

Scar therapy can help improve the mobility of scar tissue and reduce these sensations.
Treatment can start from around 12 weeks postpartum, but it’s never too late - even scars that are years old can respond well.

If you’ve had a C-section, do you still experience any symptoms around your scar and how long has it been?

Many people don’t realise their scar could still be affecting their body, even years after.

Some common signs include:
• Tightness around the scar
• Pulling when you move
• Numbness, itching or tingling

Scar tissue can sometimes restrict surrounding tissue, which may affect movement, comfort and nerve function.

If this sounds familiar, scar therapy may be able to help.
