Our scheduled fees for July to December 2026

We know that clear information about fees helps families and clients plan ahead with confidence.

From July to December 2026, our scheduled fees will outline therapy, assessment and intern clinic options across DKM Psychology.

We have made a conscious decision to keep our session fees unchanged for the remainder of the 2026 calendar year, despite the increase to Medicare rebates from 1 July.

This means clients accessing Medicare rebates may see a small reduction in their out-of-pocket cost for eligible sessions.

As always, our team will continue to offer a range of options across registered psychologists, clinical psychology, provisional psychology, therapy and assessments.

“How could you work in a prison?”

It’s a question I’ve been asked many times.

Early in my career, supervision helped me understand that psychological work in custodial settings is not separate from public safety. It is part of it.

A small part, yes — but an important one.

Most people in custody will eventually return to the community. The work done during their sentence can support insight, accountability, emotional regulation, behaviour change, and safer reintegration.

It is never just about the individual in front of you.

It is also about the families, workplaces, neighbourhoods and communities they return to.

That perspective helped me hold the complexity of the work: compassion without naïvety, accountability without dehumanisation, and care with a clear understanding of risk.

Despite all of the challenges, the clinical work, relationships with colleagues, and the supervision I received, shaped my professional self.

We get asked this all the time: what do we think about squishies and fidgets in the classroom?

The honest answer? It’s a balance.

Some students genuinely need movement or sensory input to support focus, regulation and learning. And many teachers understand this deeply.

But classrooms are shared spaces, and limits are often needed so one student’s support tool does not become another student’s distraction.

That’s why discreet, low-disruption options can be so helpful.

It’s about choosing supports that work for the child, the teacher and the classroom.

A diagnostic assessment is not about confirming a hoped-for outcome or forcing a label to fit.

It is a careful process of gathering information, considering developmental history, using standardised tools, listening to lived experience, and understanding how someone functions across different settings.

Sometimes an assessment leads to a diagnosis. Sometimes it does not. Sometimes it identifies other explanations, support needs, or areas for further exploration.

What can be guaranteed is a thoughtful, evidence-informed and respectful process — one that aims to help the person, their family, school, or supports better understand what is going on and what may help next.

Because the goal is not simply a diagnosis.

The goal is clarity.

We’re looking for a Registered Psychologist to join our DKM Psychology team.

This role may suit a clinician who enjoys working across the lifespan and has experience or strong interest in diagnostic assessment, including cognitive/IQ assessments, Autism, ADHD and Specific Learning Disorder assessments.

We’re a small, supportive team with a strong focus on clinical development, reflective practice and sustainable private practice. For the right candidate, there is also scope to progress into a senior supervisory role over time.

The role includes:

• Salaried employment, not contractor arrangement
• Minimum 2 days per week
• Full-time option includes 1 WFH day
• Supportive team environment
• Assessment and therapy work
• AHPRA Approved Supervisor status desirable, but not essential

Yes — I still see clients.

As a practice director, I carry a small clinical caseload because it keeps me connected to the work in a very real way.

It helps me stay clinically sharp, grounded in the day-to-day realities of therapy, and aware of the pressures psychologists are navigating on the mental health frontline.

Leadership in psychology isn’t just about systems, strategy, and supervision. For me, it’s also about staying close to the work, the people, and the complexity of what happens in the therapy room.

Beyond the therapy room; Dr Kim, Clinical Psychologist

Dr Kim didn’t always work in a calm consulting space — she began her career in prisons, supporting people through complex and often confronting life experiences. That foundation continues to shape how she shows up today: curious, grounded, and deeply non-judgemental.

Today, she leads a growing practice, supports the next generation of psychologists (almost 40 students and counting), and works with clients across the lifespan using Schema Therapy and EMDR.

But also…
She loves trash TV.
She’s a cake decorator on the side.
And she’s committed to a daily skinny latte ☕️
