Taking a trip down memory lane. Anyone from my era remember this song from Wilson Phillips? Hold On?

It popped into my head recently as I was getting ready to return to my old high school in a professional role (talk about full circle moment!). And it shocked me that despite not hearing it for decades I still remembered almost every single word 😆😆😆

Making me wonder just how many times I must have played it when I was young. I can almost feel the sensation of hitting rewind on the tape repeatedly & the little dresses I wore when I was holding mum hostage for my dance performances 🤣🤣

It’s amazing the things our minds hold onto! And the seemingly random (yet somehow perfectly orchestrated by life) experiences that can help those memories drop in.

And this one memory then sent me down music memory magic lane & I’ve been listening to all the music I’d forgotten I ever loved, so good!

It’s one thing to remember the harder times we’ve lived through but it’s a whole other beautiful thing to allow ourselves to also look out for & bathe in the little, joyful or lighthearted moments too.😻🌸🌻🌿

For those joining in our spring womens nest I promise random music & dance prompts will be part of our journey. There’s still time to join if you’d like to spend 10 weeks bathing in the magic of spring with me. We begin 18th September, link in my bio ♥️

All the little things…like love hearts in nature.

Fun fact, I once lived with a high control group and the teacher would reprimand & ridicule me for putting love hearts on my social media posts. He said it lacked professionalism. I rolled my eyes and groaned inside but complied & tried to stop love hearting everything (& often conveniently forgot & did it anyway 😆).

I reflect on my time with the group regularly because it helped shape who I am today, and who I’ve always been.

Someone who loves and is committed to love and is deeply touched by the little things. I’m grateful for the encounters, control and domination I experienced in the group because they helped me build the courage to say no and to leave when something feels wrong to me or is deeply misaligned with my values.

And I’ve since built a life where I get to spend time living with, sharing with, caring with and encouraging other love centred beings.

I get that love hearts might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I adore them and if you’re here reading this maybe you might too.

Why? Because why wouldn’t I want regular reminders of love, union and harmony at every possible moment. Why wouldn’t I use my eyes and my mind to see love wherever I can? It doesn’t mean life isn’t filled with moments of bumps & challenges but when love jumps out at me I’m going to pause and be touched!

This one popped out at me on a little river wander at Bells Rapids last week & I happily stopped & squealed and appreciated this little thing & loved that everyone I was with just smiled at my joy and didn’t need me to be anything but who I am.

May your day be filled with little things that touch your heart

“Make peace with all the women you once were
Lay flowers at their feet
Offer them incense, honey & forgiveness
Honour them and give them your silence
Listen, bless them & let them be
For they are the bones of the temple you sit in now
For they are the rivers of wisdom leading you towards the sea”
-Emory Hall

Join me in the dome this winter for a couple of special women’s circles as we honour the many women that we are and have been and are yet to come. We were never meant to journey through this life solo, these circles are a special remembering of how deeply interwoven our collective threads are.

Some extra lush Friday night events coming up in July & August.

If you’ve been wanting to join for a Womens Yin Nest but can’t make the Friday mornings these ones are for you!!

Friday 24th July & 28th August
6.30-8.30pm
Join for one or both 🌿

A special gathering to honour the Winter doorway to recharge, restore and reconnect at our deepest level. Do you know the unique ways your body, heart, mind and soul recharges? We charge our phone batteries every day - but what about your internal battery?

Journeying with the Water Element in 5 element theory nurturing the kidneys and urinary bladder, Winter brings us into the Heart of Yin and reminds us the depth and richness of our inner world. As we soften through the Heart and into the Womb we’ll explore themes of fluidity, intuition, sensuality and the wisdom of stillness.

Even when I have days with a good work life balance I still notice I can get caught in treating everything in life as urgent and turning little things into bigger things than they need to be.

And I’m seeing it with so many of the women I work with & those around me.

When we feel overwhelmed or under resourced & unsafe instead of slowing down we often unconsciously speed up our thinking & give little things access to the full problem solving capacities of our minds. The kind of mental load (thinking, analysing, sorting, risk assessing & solution creating) better suited for crisis & emergencies!

This kind of brain power is seriously over qualified for life’s everyday mental load (like what to make for dinner, food shopping, conversations, business meetings, work tasks or even just getting to appointments on time).

And it’s exhausting.

When I carry this kind of urgency & over controlling into everyday life, I’m left wondering why I feel more tired & overwhelmed even though my day hasn’t been overfilled with ‘big’ things.

So I’m learning to take more pauses (like cups of tea looking at beautiful things rather than drinking at my computer!) so the next thing I give my presence to is from spaciousness rather than tightness & with the right amount of urgency & mental load for the actual situation.

Constant busyness trained me to react with urgency rather than pause & respond. And as my way of rebelling at a world that screams hurry up I’m committed to collecting fresh data everyday (through lived experience) so my body knows slowness, pausing & spaciousness is safe too.

And contrary to what wellness trends might try to sell you - there isn’t a quick fix or hack for this.

When your nervous system has collected so much data that to feel safe everyday tasks need to have the urgency of an emergency or crisis - it is going to need new data before it can register safety in new ways too.

Our bodies need slow, regulated spaces, people & experiences. And that’s a perfectly normal beautiful, natural part of the human experience.

What’s one everyday thing you might not need to treat as urgent today?

Closing another precious weekend retreat at Treeby for a beautiful woman daring to carve out a pause to bring extra nourishment + presence to her life.

I don’t market these retreats heavily because it seems the right people just seem to find us in the right moment.

But I’m leaving this little love note here now to say how much I treasure holding this space. From creating your cocoon room, to dreaming up a nourishing menu & delivering food to you, to gently guiding you in Deep Rest and watching you melt into the timeless space Treeby offers - I’m so grateful for your trust and commitment to Self. And for my sweet hearted family who help to make this special too ♥️♥️
