Bowel problems aren’t always just about diet.

Your pelvic floor muscles play an important role in helping you empty your bowels, control urgency and maintain continence. If these muscles aren’t relaxing or coordinating well, or if re**al sensation has changed, you may notice symptoms like straining, incomplete emptying, urgency or leakage.

Pelvic health physiotherapy can help assess what’s contributing to your symptoms and may include bowel-emptying strategies, pelvic floor retraining, biofeedback, sensory retraining and practical advice to make bowel motions easier.

If any of these signs sound familiar, it may be worth discussing them with a pelvic health physiotherapist.
