These are the kinds of things I hear all the time in clinic.

Most people don’t come in saying “I have a gut issue”. They’ll say they feel bloated most days, their energy isn’t great, certain foods don’t sit well anymore, or their digestion just feels off.

It often gets brushed off or becomes something they just put up with.
If you’re noticing a few of these, it’s usually a sign your gut could do with some support. It doesn’t mean something serious is going on, but it does mean it’s worth paying attention to rather than ignoring it.

This is something I see every winter.

People don’t usually notice it straight away, but over a few weeks things start to shift. They’re moving less, getting out less, seeing people less. Then they come in saying they feel more tired, a bit flat, and harder to get going.

Nothing major has happened. It’s just that everything has slowly dropped off.
When your movement drops, your energy and sleep tend to go with it. When you’re not seeing people as much, your mood usually takes a hit as well. It’s subtle, but it adds up.

You don’t need to suddenly do more or push yourself harder. Most of the time it’s just about not letting everything stop at once.

Keeping a bit of movement in your week and staying connected to people, even in small ways, makes a big difference this time of year.

Changes in energy, mood or motivation are common as the seasons change and it is often something that comes up in clinic often.

People don’t always come in saying they’re stressed or struggling with their mental health. It’s usually more subtle than that. They just feel a bit flat, a bit more anxious or like their energy and motivation have dropped off.

A big part of it is the seasonal shift. There’s less daylight, routines change, people tend to stay inside more and move less. Even social connections can drop off without really realising it.

Most people don’t adjust anything, though. They keep doing what they were doing in summer and expect to feel the same.

Usually this time of year calls for a bit more support, not more pressure. A bit more attention to sleep, food, movement, and staying connected can go a long way.

If you notice this pattern for yourself each year, it’s worth working with it rather than pushing through it.

As the weather cools, your body naturally shifts. Digestion slows, energy can dip and your immune system can be under more pressure.

What I often see in clinic this time of year is people continuing with the same habits they had in summer… and wondering why they feel off.

You don’t need a complete overhaul. But you do need to adjust. Think warmer foods, more routine, better sleep, and consistent nourishment.
